Bottom post of the previous page:

Paul, don't be surprised if Axl sounds like shite (he's been poor on this tour compared to 2010) but the actual band is REALLY good right now.

I did Youtube some videos from this year (amateur handheld camera recordings) and vocally he sounds better than he has done in recent years. Perhaps it's the low quality of the recordings flattering them.

Yep Jesper, I will do...Lizzy Borden is one of the only bands on the line up I haven't checked out yet.

There are a lot of good moments from the 2012 shows, but not every song is spot on.

As you're 3 months into the tour it should be one of the better ones, it's almost as if Axl doesn't sing between tours and has to start again from scratch in building power and strength.

I mentioned Sixx: AM in the MC thread, the A from the band is a current GNR guitarist, he has a pretty nice solo spot right now called 'Mi Amor' but you might get 'Ballad of Death' which is also cool.

Whatever happens, it's normally 3 hours of kick ass performance if you're getting a full set.

Did they show any porn on that big screen?

Nope...they showed women kissing and some sort of, BDSM shots of a woman tied up, all in the style of a vintage 1920s silent movie, but otherwise not too dirty.

If you've been to a Mötley Crüe concert without seeing some tits, you should be outraged!

Not counting Vince Neil's tits though.

Haha...the girls on stage had tits. They were kept under wraps though sadly. Being a festival, it wasn't as grandiose as if it was their own show. There were no angle grinders, no dwarfs on chains...Only champagne and big buckets of pink dye being thrown at the crowd.

What did you think of nu-GNR?

My reply has disappeared  I said I thought they were a fraud for still being called G'n'R. Axl's voice sounded good live but then I listened back to recordings and it sounds awful.

Quite frankly, Slash's band sucked, there was so much guitar music that day, Slash could have been anyone and the music was just generic rock, the crowd barely cared.

Here are my recordings...Ugly Kid Joe and Hardcore Superstar were great, the rest sound past their best, but when you're there having it blasted into your ears it sounds great:

I'm doing that impulsive going to heavy metal festival thing this weekend as well, although mine is a bit simpler than Paul's since the festival (Tuska, which is 'Agony' in finnish) pretty much in my doorstep...

The lineup is reasonably good... Saw Profane Omen, Exodus (due to the praise they've received here), Trivium and Megadeth yesterday, planning to see at least Mokoma (a fantastic finnish thrash metal band) and probably Sabaton today, and then Apocalyptica and Ministry tomorrow.

Last night was amazing. I'll post a couple of photos later. Probably the best song of the entire set was the only song not from The Wall, which was Comfortably Numb. Nice addition and epic guitar solo.

Guess I have to see that show some day. Never been a big Pink Floyd fan, but I've only heard good reviews about Waters' concerts.
