Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen who did the rockingest gig I ever saw! [should have said "I ever did see!"]
Always like the Commander anyway, but after the rock festivel at Washougal I was a die hard fan. Rain rain and more rain, the Commander hits the stage, the rain stops, sun comes out,,,the Commanders set is over and the rain instantly returns.

I booked them! My flatmate at Bristol University was Social Secretary of the University Union and when I heard the Commander was touring the UK I wanted to see them "But they're a Country and Western band!" :sorrow: "Don't worry! They'll rock!" and sure enough everyone was up and dancing that night!

Remind me to tell the story of how we nearly got the Eagles to Bristol for a European Tour warm up gig when they were the biggest band in the world! And Simon and I were gonna control all the tickets! Much ass, grass and cash would be ours! And what happened? Some nana phoned from the States to a University Union office at 7pm Saturday night and expected a student still to be there! Din't they know about the time difference? So we stayed (relatively) poor, sober and sex starved! :haha:

I'd add Ramones and MC5, and definitely also The Sweet, Slade, Uriah Heep and Jethro Tull.

Well 'odd' anyway... but yeah in a good sort of way...

Are you ready Steve? Uh-huh
Andy? Yeah
Mick? Okay
Alright fellows - let's go!....
.......
.......

Oh Yeah! It was like lightning
Everybody was frightning
And the music was soothing
And they all started grooving

Oh and see a man at the back as a matter of fact
His eyes are as red as the sun
And the girl in the corner let no one ignore her
Cause she thinks she's the passionate one

Oh Yeah! It was electric
So prefectly hectic
And the band started leaving
Cause they all stopped breathing

....and in the famous words of Leandros

YEAH, YEAH, YEAH-YEAH-YEAH

Man that was a big song.

It's amazing, whenever I hear it these days I cringe, yet by the end of it I'm singing or at least humming it...

There's also a cover Version around from Ballroom Blitz.

Performed by the Damned with Lemmy from Motörhead  :haha:

I would certainly vote for Slade and Uriah Heep from that list.

Or possibly Cosmo's Factory.

Nazareth and T-Rex should be on my list, as well.

No one's mentioned Springsteen! In the 70s, maybe not in the 80s, 'The Boss' was just the rock 'n' roll best! Born to Run has to be one of the best, most memorable albums of the decade! Of course he couldn't tour: contractual problems meant he couldn't leave New Jersey. I'd have given blood to see him live in 76/77 but by the time he could tour again, I'd moved on and he'd got pretentiously "fat"
