1969 Piper GTR
The GTR was a bespoke racecar prepared for the 1969 Le Mans 24 Hours but didn’t race due to a technicality in the regulations. The extremely low car was completely untested before arriving at Le Mans and a multitude of problems ensured it didn’t race.
At the core of the GTR was a fibreglass tub and a 1.3-liter engine from Lotus. Tony Hilder was responsible for the design which only weighed 600 kg. Aerodynamics were a huge part of the design which included a areofoil that was tested at the Kingston Polytechnic.
Unfortunately, the car suffered from multiple problems at Le Mans including the rear hatch coming off down the Mulsanne straight. Once the stewards banned the car from racing it was given to driver Tim Lalonde as reimbursement. https://www.supercars.net/blog/1969-piper-gtr/
On the 12th of March, 2012, Dodge unveiled its brand new Generation 6 charger to be debuted in the 2013 season.
This car would never hit the track, as Penske, Dodge's main team switched to Ford and Dodge failed to find a new team to run the car with, despite winning the championship in 2012 with Brad Keselowski. Dodge have not returned to NASCAR since.

What's that, tank racing? No way that's an F1 car, or even only a reasonable concept. It's just bullshit from a sick brain.
I know. I've been itching to put it on here. David Cox had some interesting ideas and that's an understatement.

I like the way @Nononsensecapeesh says there were plans for this. I think it's the same as saying there were plans for a moon base in the 1960s.

I had been seeking clarification as to whether a car had to have actually been built and not raced to actually count.
My initial thought was someone was bored and did a pencil sketch. probably around April Fools Day and sent to the press with a fantasy story surrounding it.
A bit like the pics I have seen of Lotus and Ferrari 6 wheeler F1 cars back in the day which just had an extra set of wheels positioned to look like they were working on a 6 wheeler of a style like the March 6 wheeler (4 rear wheels)

It most certainly would have seemed like that at the time, especially the 12-wheeled sports car concept, looks more like something out of Thunderbirds or Captain Scarlet.
