Came across this just now. Too impressed not to share...and I figured I'd start a thread with all the videos from racing games (from rF to N2003 LFS to GPL and so on...)

Here are two laps, recorded live, by myself, in Fraps, with me driving :)

A lap of Macau in the 2007 BMW Sauber  1 minute 50.92 :)

Lap of the Buenos Aires circuit, configuration No. 12, in GTR2. This is the very fast version that goes round the lake. Lap time was 1 minute 22.1, but I have easily done a 1:21.6 round that circuit.

I don't know why this is funny, but it is! You could have literally minutes of fun with it.

Two laps of Nueve de Julio (not the best laps I've ever done) in the Turismo Carretera game, driven by me. Logitech G25, H-Shifter, Clutch, no driver aids at all:

Same game, two laps at the Salta circuit. Watch for the lurid slide starting at round the 1:00 mark  :

Turismo Carretera is one of the hardest racing games I've ever played, in terms of difficulty in controlling the car.

Yeah, pretty good driving there Paul.

It's interesting, that in the game, the driver doesn't move his hands at all!

Sorry for the daft question but I need to ask it. How do you record videos of you playing games?

A program called FRAPS. It can be pretty CPU intensive, so you can only really record live videos if you are driving on a circuit on your own else the frame rate gets a little low. Alternatively, you can set it to say, 30 FPS, and record a replay and it'll look fine on Youtube on WMP.

I've also found with FRAPS that you should keep your audio drivers up to date. I used to get very poor recording frame rates (in the 10 fps range) and had it pointed out that I needed to keep my audio drivers a bit up to date- so just a heads up there!
