Bottom post of the previous page:

Does Nick Mason count?
He was the Pink Floyd drummer, cars enthousiast and regular customer in historics, racing GT's and Prototypes.

In Belgium we have the Wouters brothers (Kris and Koen) who are singers in a renowned Belgian band called Clouseau (they sing Dutch popsongs and yearly sell hundred of thousands of records, regularly earning them a nr1 hit or a gold record)
They race "Belcar" (the Belgian GT championship)

Franz Klammer, legendary downhill ski champion, raced Touringcars for a while in the German championship (I think it was in the ITC period, but I am not sure)

Christian Horner, CEO of Red Bull, used to race F3000 in the early 90ies

Apologies for the resurrection, would Kelvin Fletcher and Rick Parfitt Jr count these days? Both have recently tried their luck in the BTCC.

Thread bumped after 15 years... now I've seen everything

Didn't see it mentioned but Motley Crue lead vocallist Vince Neil did four Indy Lights races in 1992 (best finish of 10th at Milwaukee).

You won't see this stuff in 2022 anymore :haha:

Shane Lynch drove for Eclipse Motorsport in the British GT Championship from 2002-2006, coming close to winning the 2003 title, then explored the possibility of entering the 2007 BTCC before deciding against it.

Slim Borgudd, who ran in F3 and F1 (F1 'career' started at age 35 I think) was the (studio) drummer for Abba.
A friend of mine (who @PTRACER knows,) Iain Rowley, now owns and runs his old March 793 F3 car amongst other cars. In fact he emailed me not long ago looking for pics / history of it.

Edit: Just discovered PT mentioned Slim on the opening page of the thread, 16 years ago.

Indeed! Though, I doubt he remembers me for the two races I did in his series 13 years ago

I'd like to add a few names to this. First is Fabien Barthez, who was one of France's most popular footballers in the 90s. France won the World Cup in 1998 apparently with Barthez as the goalkeeper and Barthez also saved balls for Manchester United. He turned to sportscar racing in 2008 and ran in LMGTE Am at Le Mans.

Patrick Dempsey, star of Grey's Anatomy, is well-known now for his racing exploits. I think he's a team owner as well over in the States?

Image

Nick Mason, Pink Floyd drummer, well known for his love of classic cars, he also raced at Le Mans back in the late-70s and early 80s:

In recent years, we've had Sir Chris Hoy swap cycling for Motor Racing, particularly of the endurance variety.
