I watched the first clip and I like it but thats strange because I'm mostly scared of Jazz. Not that it's bad but hard to follow and very technical, IMO.
But then, once there apeared "The Mars Volta" and I was a little bit blown away.
Have you ever listened to "The Mars Volta"? If not, you should!

You have to listen to the notes that the musician isn't playing.ASH wrote:I watched the first clip and I like it but thats strange because I'm mostly scared of Jazz. Not that it's bad but hard to follow and very technical, IMO.
But seriously, I was in awe for all of that. It's people like that that make me want to play music when I grow up.

you have to listen the original "stratus" and "red baron" (Schumi?!), in which Tommy Bolin was sparkling his blues rock solo style by his Fender, before his drug addiction brought him to death

Have it, love it, cherish it. One of my favorite albums of all time. Lee Sklar plays killer bass on it, too.caneparo wrote:you have to listen the original "stratus" and "red baron" (Schumi?!), in which Tommy Bolin was sparkling his blues rock solo style by his Fender, before his drug addiction brought him to death

I've also got the VHS "Modern Electric Bass", by Jaco. He, Sco and Kenwood Dennard have a couple awesome jams on it.caneparo wrote:and you got a rare John Scofield with hair above hieyebrows. In fact, here is a small excerpt from it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBZQr9tz8wY
It's kinda sad, knowing Jaco was "cleaned up" for the video shoot. Definitely in his dark years.... He still plays the balls off, though! The other dude is Jerry Jemmott.

I'm starting to like Jazz, but this is not my favourite kind. I think I probably like swing more, I'm still trying to find my footing really.

I don't like swing as it's a very stylistic music that really leaves a few to imagination and improvisation. Real Jazz is for me cool jazz, be bop, and especially fusion from the seventies
