I watched the first clip and I like it but thats strange because I'm mostly scared of Jazz. Not that it's bad but hard to follow and very technical, IMO.
But then, once there apeared "The Mars Volta" and I was a little bit blown away.

You have to listen to the notes that the musician isn't playing.
But seriously, I was in awe for all of that. It's people like that that make me want to play music when I grow up.

Have it, love it, cherish it. One of my favorite albums of all time. Lee Sklar plays killer bass on it, too.
It's kinda sad, knowing Jaco was "cleaned up" for the video shoot. Definitely in his dark years.... He still plays the balls off, though! The other dude is Jerry Jemmott.
I don't like swing as it's a very stylistic music that really leaves a few to imagination and improvisation. Real Jazz is for me cool jazz, be bop, and especially fusion from the seventies
