there is a way to measure the stiffness of the wing. FIA declared that Ferrari wings are stiff enough to be legal.

Even though I'm aware that I mentioned the mirrors that much I'll continue bothering! You lads talk about Flexi Wings, well you all mentioned it, next month they're all on the way with Flexi "things" and in the next year they're all banned. Those "idiots" are bothering about aerodynamics and so on but they're all unable to get the God damn mirrors fixed. FUUUUUUCK, fix the mirrors you Superdorks.
I'll stop talking about moving mirrors when the first driver has been hitted from a flying mirror, ripped off from the car in front.
I'm joking, I don't want any drivers being hurt.

Do you remember back in 2000, when Arrows, and I think Jordon, had their extra winglets banned? We also had those X-Wings banned back in 1997. I thought there was something in the rules that said winglets weren't allowed anyway?

I think that it was an accident with Ales that banned the X-wings'. I also believe that the FIA only banned high-structure wings on the side-pods, not those kinds on the roll-bars that are used today.

Bernie banned them because they were ugly...I'd have to do a lot of Googling to find the stories but it was because Bernie didn't like them.

Well, then we have to agree with him, don't you think?

I think Strad is right, I read something similiar in the bood of Mark Hughes

They may well be stiff enough to be legal..... they just arnt stiff enough to hold their shape above 200 kph. Basically its a modern day version of Jim Halls lever operated wing on the Chaparral.
