The meaning of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody song?

#1

Post by bigears »

I was watching See Hear (a programme for deaf people broadcasted late at night time) and I saw a signed performance of the song by a Dublin deaf art group.

At the end of the scene, the presenter said if you know what the song really mean, let us know.

I was a bit puzzled with this remark so I first thought that I should ask PTRACER to see what the song really means and why the presenter said that in the programme.

Thanks :)

Nobody knows.....

I've heard that it was an admission to his girlfriend that he was gay, but I doubt that. If anyone knows, Paul will.

Freddie took the meaning of it to his grave.

Brian May and Roger Taylor are the only two people who know the real meaning, and they're not going to tell anyone anytime soon

I Googled for this and found an interesting website about it:

http://www.songfacts.com/detail.lasso?id=685

Especially this:
His family grew up in Zanzibar, but was forced out by government upheaval in 1964, and they moved to England. Some of the lyrics could be about leaving his homeland behind.
So maybe it is something like a killing a man to flee and to leave the family behind in his (or his parents') home country?
