Why am I increasingly under impression that Dr. Marko is not among your favorite friends?
seriously, I think that he's little more than a trouble maker, I don't think that finding good drivers in the junior formulae is such a big deal if you have so much money to spend, in a sense I feel that being Red Bulls young driver consultant is one of the easiest jobs in F1
From history we learn Chaleo Yoovidhya, co-founder of RB was not interested in the F1. That part of business on global map was left to Dietrich Mateschitz, who was to some degree a marketing genius. Problem was, in his busy business life he needed someone to keep Horner in the harness, behaving. Dietrich carried far more autonomy than his son does today. Helmut was his trusted friend, confidant, and someone who knew a thing or two about racing. Dr. Marko has done over the years far better job than media give him credit with his gentle, and discreet input.
BTW, I am not sure if you read in German, but an interesting article is circulating in German media. I cannot speak about article credibility, but it may stop you in your tracks for a moment or two.
Have fun: https://www.formel1.de/news/news/2024-0 ... -sein-kann
Sainz has now been linked with the Aston Martin seat, with Stroll as his teammate of course Is there a seat left Carlos Sainz that hasn't been linked to for next year?
Motosports writes in one article that Verstappen is holding driver market hostage.
In the next article they swear they will not bow to Audi. War with Germany starts early? (Audi is not even in the F1 as yet, in the case they did not noticed.)
I wish RB and their friends in media make their mind how they want to entertain us. Writing rubbish might not do it.
I am pleased Yuki reached that level of consideration, but between him and Sergio it is not easy to choose. My intuition is telling me that Honda gets involved when time is right. They want a Japanese driver in the series, and why not.
Before Yuki replaces Sergio (which is never, despite kind words and praise for his progress), I think Honda will want him to replace Str. at AM.
It might be interesting if they are canvassing management for letting Alonso go. There is the history at McLaren between them, and it's not a good one. Sounds improbable they would complain, since Japanese guys are superpolite, but one never knows.
Im not convinced. Post race when interviewed he was uncharacteristically negative, moaning about Aston Martin's form.... he also pretty much said he has no interest in joining Mercedes.
He said his biggest decision is does he want to continue in F1 he really wants to continue racing in F1. He went on to say he is dissatisfied with Aston Martin’s current level of performance despite him driving as well as ever..
“I have a lot of fun, which is great to keep on racing,”
“[But] I had one of my best weekends ever, I think, driving, and I’m 44 seconds behind the leader. It doesn’t feel attractive in the same time, so let’s see.”
When asked about moving to Mercedes he simply said
“Mercedes is behind Aston Martin. So it doesn’t feel that attractive.”
