Those rear wings make me feel physically sick. I hate curved wings.

The F2 and F3 seasons get underway this weekend supporting the F1 GP.

In fact F3 qualy is just starting with F2 after that. F3 has I think twenty eight starters, including Mini Montoya. Seems some of the F3 guys were slammed with track limits violations in practice so I presume some were a bit keen on short cuts and running wide.

F3 is always fun though given they are all out there trying to become, and thinking they are, the next Max

5 minutes to go and all 27 (not 28 as I said before) cars out on track, all with new rubber on and all wanting to get pole. What could possibly go wrong. :haha:

As posted in the F1 thread, the new F2 car is so ugly. That rear wing is just disgusting from every angle.

The F2 cars are out qualifying now.... I have to say I thought the new car looked quite pretty in the publicity shots but out on track they just look very odd. The rear wings looks wrong. Very wrong. It looks like half an oval stuck on the back of the car and looks nothing like a proper rer wing in TV shots, especially with DRS closed. DRS open and the oval bit at least flattens out a bit

This video shows what I mean.

We had a bit of controversy in F2 qualifying....

Polesitter Kush Maini was DSQd from qualy and wil start both races rear of grid for 'technical breaches found in post qualy eligibility checks.....the Stewards found that the height of the left undertray front external strake of car #9 was below the required minimum height and therefore not in line with Article 3.4.1 of the 2024 FIA F2 Championship Technical Regulations.

THE F2 Sprint race starts in a few minutes. The alleged next Max Verstappen, Kimi Antonelli, straight into F2 without doing F3, and the hot tip for Lewis's rplacement if he copes with F2 well. He qualified 17th out of 21. (Maybe 16th given the above news re Maini.

Im going to watch the F2 just to see if Antonelli is as good as the hype. Actually I wish him well and would quite like to see a new prodigy in F1.

Franco Colapinto has been handed a 10-second time penalty for an incorrect starting position. He qualified 15th.

Don't know enough about him to like him and "support" him. But I agree that something beyond Max is needed. So good luck to him.

Given the general lack of testing these days, I can see how he'd struggle one way or another at this stage. I imagine it would very much be being thrown into the deep end.

But he's essentially with the best team. He also knows many of the tracks in Europe. So he won't have too many excuses beyond the first, I dunno, handful of rounds.

Zane Maloney scored his first ever Formula 2 victory after the Rodin Motorsport driver came through from eighth on the grid to win the Sprint Race in Bahrain. Rodin is the name of the old Carlin team, now under new ownership.

The recently-announced Sauber Academy member made a fast start and was quickly up to fourth by the end of Lap 1. Aston Martin Development driver Jak Crawford followed Maloney across the line to finish in second place, while Campos Racing rookie Josep María Martí went from 11th on the grid to take the final spot on the podium.

Antonelli picked up places early and held deposed polessitter Maini behind him for several laps but an unscheduled pit stop put paid to his race. Actually I thought he had gone for a strategic early tyre change as a few stopped. Unfortunately none of the leaders stopped and being the Sprint race I believe there are no compulsory stops so it must have been for damage repair. Anyway he returned ti finish 14th and the leader of those that stopped. He beat some of the more fancied runners including Ferrari Academy driver Ollie Bearman. Also Fittipaldi and Colpinto

Maloney took the double after Bortoleto hit Hadjar in Turn 1 of the Feature Race. It's to early to tell how this goes but IF Maloney somehow becomes F2 champion could we see him promoted to F1 over Zhou? That would be quite a shocking development since nobody expected this guy to end up in the big show.

Prema continued their lowly start with Antonelli scoring one point which is the team's only haul of the weekend. Miyata was compromised after the second safety car left him on hard tires in the condensed pack so he dropped from 7th to 9th.

Formula 2 are on the Saudi GP support card, along with Carrera Cup and the Academy girls.

F2 qualy has just happened and top of the pile is Ollie Bearman with Kush Maini 2nd and Jak Crawford 3rd, Victor Martins 4th and Enzo Fittipaldi 5th. Kimi Antonelli, the potential Lewis replacement at Mercedes, ended 6th. just 0.228 off pole.,

Prema appear to have worked the car out. They were oddly off the pace last weekend.

Super Formula also starts this weekend at Suzuka. 21 entries since B-Max scaled down to one car for Lights champion Iori Kimura (half-Russian ofc). So we have 20 Japanese drivers + Theo Pourchaire. Title favorites should be Nojiri & Iwasa (Team Mugen) IMO.

I guess the Iwasa is the same guy who did F2 the last couple of years.
