One surprrise after another.
Team that can't understand how ground effects cars work claims that ground effect is the wrong solution.

What a shock.

Hockenheim inches closer to F1 race return
https://www.grandprix.com/news/hockenhe ... eturn.html

Emodrom Group, private investors, plan to invest incrementally about €250M and revive the facility with hope to lure F1 back to Hockenheim. I think @Everso Biggyballies outlined quite well how the future for small operators may develop. It could take a while before FOM will consider occassional return. Having said that, I am pleased that someone has shown small degree of interest to pay bills.

In re: Pre-race added "show"

According to Formel1.de, Stefano Domenicali is preparing us for more sprint events they want to induce in addition to expanded calendar. To be frank, I have expected and dreaded something like that might happen. Setting aside impact of heavy workload on supporting staff, drivers and their families, is this actually well thought out strategy how to make the F1 popular? I am with a group which thinks less and rare is far more attractive when it happen. Strategy pursued by FOM seems to be concerned more about short term cash registry, rather than long term well being of the sport.

I am lacking understanding how living on low budget teams will stretch people and equipment without investing anything into it. People will need to be on rotation. That's necessity, but terrible idea for continuity without errors in work-transfer. Are we returning into 19th century industrial practices? Maybe Stefano and people he associate with should glance at the Boeing, and learn a thing or two from their mistakes. Will they? I doubt it. Living in a bubble makes them happy.

Bad news for the F1?
FORMULA E NEW GEN3 EVO CAR FASTER THAN FORMULA 1 FROM 0-60MPH
Key technical enhancements for the new Formula E GEN3 Evo race car include:

The quickest accelerating FIA single-seater race car – Capable of 0-60mph in 1.82 seconds (0-100kph in 1.86s), 30% faster than a current F1 car.
Faster, stronger, more agile – Performance upgrades providing an estimated 2% performance gain from GEN3, equating to a c.2 secs faster qualifying lap on the Monaco circuit, offering world-class racing on any track.
Leaner and meaner – An aggressive new body kit designed to be stronger, more robust and more aerodynamic, delivering closer wheel-to-wheel racing.
All-wheel drive (AWD) –A first for a Formula E car, available during qualifying duels, race starts, and ATTACK MODE. This feature maximises acceleration and control, elevating the thrill of critical race moments and intensifying driver rivalries. AWD enhances both performance and strategy, providing more exciting racing for drivers and fans alike.
Better grip – Optimised all-weather Hankook iON tyres providing 5-10% more grip, made from 35% recycled and sustainable materials (+9% vs GEN3 spec).

Q.
Can F1 continue to claim it's fastest among fast ones? Some say, based on data, not anymore!
Technically sophisticated? Probably right, but competitions is closing fast on parallel track.

Tesla Plaid's have been faster to 60 than F1 for a little while.
Tractor pulling has more powerful engines.
Top Fuel Dragsters are faster than Formula E
Indycar has faster average lap speeds on ovals.

You know what that all means?

Absolutely nothing. Just like the Formula E 0-60 time.

None of those cars are the balanced all-round package you get from an F1 car.

Tesla Plaid or a Tractor aren't in competition with the F1. Comparison is irrelevant. Formula E however is, whether you chose it ignore it, or not. Watch the space.

More juicy stuff in the land of Team Principals. Well, ex TPs to be factual. And not that controversial, just seems like Carl Haas being tight.

Guenther Steiner sues Haas F1

Guenther Steiner is suing the Haas F1 team for breach of his employment contract after he was not retained for 2024. Before I continue lets make it clear Guenther does not dispute that his contract was not renewed with the team at the end of last year....... he agrees that constitutes a “termination with cause” under the Employment Agreement, for which GS is entitled to all “Base Salary and any other compensation that has been earned through to the date of termination,” which includes commissions earned through December 31, 2023.”

Steiner's complaint states that did not happen. That specific period was covered under his third employment agreement as team principal and ran from January 1, 2021 until December 31, 2023. Part of that contract included the payment of annual bonuses and commissions due in January of the following year.

The claim outlines how the Italian's knowledge of the industry and connections within offered benefits to the Haas organisation. Steiner spearheaded the Haas F1 Team since its inception in 2014 after securing backing from Gene Haas to create the organisation. In effect he did all the negotiations with Dallara, Ferrari, staff hiring etc. In effect Haas would not have happened without Guenther. 'All' Mr Haas did was sign the cheques.

In a nutshell it seems that despite coming last he was due bonuses that were not paid. I guess, like drivers TP's get paid per point earned. Of course Guenther was also a key factor in all the teams merchandise, most of which featured him or his quotes. :idunno:

More justifiable is that Guenther also claims that the team continues to use his name and likeness without authorisation.

Guenther as we know was a cult figure in F1 and enjoyed more popularity and followers on social media than most of the drivers after his no holds barred comments sparked by his starring role in Drive to Survive.

The team produced a line of t-shirts carrying Steiner's image, name, and quotes, while the Italian himself has inked book deals of the back of his increased notoriety.

“Haas F1 has no right to use Mr Steiner's name, image, and likeness or to exploit them in any form of media after the termination of his employment,” the court filing details.

“Haas F1 has not compensated Mr Steiner for its unauthorised use of his name, image, and likeness.”

I guess Haas are still flogging and earning from the Steiner merchandise which is a bit rude. Bottom line is Guenther deserves to be paid for his merchandise, seemingly unpaid last year and worse still Haas are still benefitting from those sales now.

In re - Alonso will speak to FiA about (perceived) bias by race stewards

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/other/ ... c83a&ei=11

To be honest, I hold the same perception when it came to judging Vettel. Systematic application of double standards. (Media (bias) pressure was relentless.)
