25 years of Half Life

Half Life just celebrated it's 25th birthday a month or so ago. I bought it for my first PC along with Half Life Blue Shift and completed both when I was maybe 13 or 14. This is still one of the greatest video games of all time!

Just finished playing the remake: Black Mesa.

It was nice to revisit a 'filled-out' Half Life on a more modern engine.

But f&*$ me, Xen was a terrible, terrible grind.

Mildly hooked on CS2 now.

Started with reinstalling CS Source when I got my new computer a few weeks ago, but there just aren't enough people playing anymore so made the switch.

CS2 seems to feel a bit spongier with the gunplay, but plays pretty well overall.

I'm certainly getting better. Started terrible, but I'm ok most rounds on casual servers now. Occasionally lead the server. My peripheral equipment is letting me down a little. I reckon with some upgrades I'd be able to get another couple of kills/saves per 15-round game with a bit of extra help there.

Still wouldn't be amazing, but then again, I never was anything great in my prime! Probably doesn't help being almost 40 now. Reflexes aren't what they used to be. I'm certainly a mid-range gun player - no shotguns or AWP for me (though the gear also doesn't help there - especially the monitor).

Takes me back to my youth though!
