Waters passed Brown on the last lap. Triple 8 was a non-factor all day so I presume both cars mismanaged tire pressure as Feeney made one more stop than everyone.
Mostert might wonder what could have been since he would have probably given Heimgartner a proper challenge for the win.

@Vassago Thanks for the updates. I had planned to watch both the Sprint and the SC race together, one on computer one of TV, but when we had the Lap 1 SC I stayed on the F1 and as the race was only just over half hour decided to watch the SC on catchup.
Certainly a bad day for T8, but Feeney was off the pace all weekend, from P1 on.
When I saw the SC at the start, having missed the incident and saw both Waters and Payne bottom of the positions I thought they had repeated their Albert Park arguments.... only when I watched from the start did I see it was different incidents. The start thing was , well, stupid, given the conditions and 50 metres into a 200klm race.
Felt sorry for Mostert, as he had done well and was having a great dice with Heimi. Happy for BJR though,
Liked the Penrite livery. Stanaway did well. I never liked him but he is quite handy in the wet and did well today.
Kostecki.... well good to see him back whatever the circumstances but I bet he cant wait for the end of the year. Erebus are not the team they were last year that is for sure. That incident when he divebombed Courtney and Reynolds wasnt his finest move and had penalty written all over it.
Good result for Golding and PremiAir have come a long way from they Team Sydney origins. I can see Brodie fitting in there next year, or maybe DJR. They had a bit of a turnaround today from their season start, but one fine day maketh not summer as they say.
Altogether an interesting race but not sure of what a dry race might be like. Maybe we will see tomorrow. Havent worked out yet if it clashes with the GP. I'll look at the TV Guide. Actually I am meant to be going out to asian food market for lunch tomorrow, but they havent rung me to confirm yet so hopefully they have forgotten..

At least it is dry and we have blue skies atm as Randle starts the shoutout ball rolling. At least everyone has plenty of dry weather rubber in their garages with yesterday all being wet weather running.

We have had the first 5 runners do their lap, and Feeney has just scraped a lap quicker faster than Brodie K to be on the top of the pile with 5 still to run.
So atm its Feeney from Brodie. K, JLB, Randle and Slade
Wood next up..... he went wide at the final chicane, off track to fits. in at the bottom of the pile behind Slade
Matty Payne on track now and after a slower S1 he came good to go ahead of Feeney and fastest to date
Will Brown next .

Brown could quite get there and slots into 4th behind Payne, Feeney and Kostecki.
Just Mostert and ADP to run. Mostert seems to be struggling with rear grip and he cant do better than 8th.
Just ADP to go. He cant do it but slots in ahead of Brown in 4th
So Matty Payne takes his first ever Shootout pole for this afternoons race.
He is happy to wear the Boost hat and collect the cheque. Obviously the locals are happy and he has got lots of noisy fans out there.
The top 10 starters on the grid will be as follows. Race start a couple of hours from now. Will it stay dry seems the question. Its a bit blowy and the radar shows rain in the area. So far it has avoided the track today.
. 1. Payne
2. Feeney
3. Brodie. K,
4. ADP
5. Brown
6. JLB,
7. Randle
8. Slade
9. Mostert
10. Wood
Start positions 11-24 on the grid a couple of posts up the page.

Just getting ready for the start. Coffee made. Looks a bit cloudy overhead and we might see more wet stuff from the sky later on.
Hopefully we can get to more thn 50 metres before we hve a Safety Car. Will Matt Payne get to convert pole to a win?
Plus of course we have the Jason Richards Trophy up for grabs. Heimi starting 11th leads the way in that.
T8 look like they have sorted a few things out and if qualy is anything to go by they are more on the pace this time. How will Stanaway go in the dry? He was good yesterday in the wet.
Will Brodie be back up to speed and challenge ftw? He made the shootout and was looking good in that.
Anyway warm up lap underway.

I must admit I like the no minimum fuel drop rule that is new for this weekend. Teams can now put whatever fuel they need , start on what level they want and top off with what they need whenever.

Looks like tyres will be more the strategy today. They all have plenty of dries available and they probably dont have a lot of tyre wear data given the weather and the mostly wet tyre running.
8 laps in a they have all been pretty well behaved and just a few rubs. Early days yet I guess. Mostert slowly pickingh is way through, now he has just passed Heimi for 12th.
