2022 R1 St. Petersburg

America better watch out, or they'll have a Russian runway incursion this weekend at St. Petersburg. It's worth remembering that the reason why Mikhail Aleshin got dumped back in 2015 was because of sanctions due to Russia being Russia.

But I digress.

It's the start of the 2022 season! And as is recent tradition, we're back on the streets and runway of St. Petersburg.

Have talked with both Rosenqvist and Ericsson lately, while Rosenqvist seem very relaxed, Ericsson is borderline overconfident, haha. He has total faith in his own abilities which is nice to see after wasting his youth as a field-filler in F1. He is loving life. But while asking him about his main competitiors he named about half the field. Only 5 fit into the top 5, so I don't know about his chances to improve on his 6th place from last year.

Rosenqvist seem pretty assured that 2021 was a deviation from the norm and all the changes within the team has made a positive impression so far.

This year is make or break for FRO. He's been boom and slump ever since he came into the series and he desperately needs a strong season now.

RoGro then Herta, Power, Pags, Rahal, Rossi, Harvey, McLaughlin and VeeKay all within half a second.

Malukas in 10th with a fine effort, and Kirkwood in 12th in the dog of a Foyt car. DeFrancesco also pretty good in 13th.

Rookies are doing okay so far. Well, apart from Lundgaard in second last, and Calderon in last and 1.2sec off Lundgaard.
