Bottom post of the previous page:

Slow news day between races, therefore it is not surprise to learn, that Norris never spoke to Kimi. I didn't think it's possible, but apparently that's what happened.

Jody Foster while filming - The Silence of the Lambs - apart scripted dialog never had conversation with, or spoke to Anthony Hopkins.

I cannot prove either of claims, however if true, I have only one short question, what's the matter with you people? Can anyone explain this kind of mindset?

Well imagine you’re working in a very large office with 10 departments and every department has two key people in it who get the job done. However you don’t always need their assistance or guidance and you prefer to hang out with some of the other departments. I think most times drivers only meet and speak to each other if they make an effort to. Actually I would dare say there is much more camaraderie between drivers than there has been, say, in the mid 2000s (imagine Montoya drinking with Verstappen Snr!), especially between the “Twitch” generation (Max, Leclerc, Sainz, Russell, Norris, Albon). I wouldn’t imagine someone like for instance Alonso hanging out with Albon after the race weekends.

I guess you might have it right, despite that humans are considered social animals. Weird stories are being told about many US baseball players, who do not talk to each other on the field, or in the bullpen, and after the game, they each then drive into different directions, often without uttering as much as "see ya".

Millionaires, what do you expect?

Foster / Hopkins case is however again something else (IMO). Perhaps clash of egos who is a bigger star?

Well apparently there is a story within a story re Hopkins and Foster. Both were in awe of the other and neither realised it. They both felt the other was on a different, higher level of skill and that they both felt inadequate in some way in the others presence.

When questioned her about those rumours that she and Hopkins had not spoken to each other during the filming of 'The Silence of the Lambs', Foster admitted: "When we got to the end of filming I realised that we hadn 't had a single conversation."

The most curious thing that transpired is that this feeling of panic was mutual. On the last day of filming, Hopkins was approached by Foster, with tears in her eyes, and told him that she was afraid of him. Then he told her: "I was afraid of you!" :haha:

It was not some not liking each other issue, far from it.

Re Lando and Kimi not having any real communication remember that for the last two seasons they have been operating in tight team bubbles with no cross contamination of teams, indeed split from connecting even with all team members..... particularly the drivers who would be more segregated than general team members. In Lando's first year I dare say he would have been somewhat in awe of Kimi and certainly be aware of his reputation for nor having close interactions with other drivers (other than Vettel who he lives close too).
As an aside I know I have seen Lando and Kimi appearing together in the F1 press conferences..

I think you're missing the obvious here re Foster/Hopkins. If I recall correctly (I haven't seen the movie in many years), they acted together only in one single setup (several scenes, but all in the same or slightly changed setup), so that they probably didn't spend more than perhaps only a couple days together on the set. During that time, they would have had intensive professional contact with each other and parts of the crew, but between takes leading actors often prefer to withdraw into their own individual 'bubble' to keep concentration up. Film productions are highly orchestrated affairs, often with fifteen or more working hours per day, and the amount of detail leading actors have to take care of is often staggering. Socialising is usually not high up on their agenda during work, and by wrap-up time some are already off to their next production.

It has emerged that during last month’s Formula 1 Commission meeting in London after the Imola race, current FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has flexed FIA muscles by demanding more payment for the “unseen work” done during F1 weekends by the staff of the organisation he heads.
So MBS is after big bad teams, and he demands more money of them. Silly me, I thought it was Liberty who demands more music for less money. I've said this thousand times, and I will say it again, it's time for the F1 to kick FiA (add Liberty and associates) to the curb. The teams aren't slaves working on feudal type of fields for people who basically contribute nothing that would interest me.

Aston Martin chief executive Tobias Moers has stepped down from his role with the British luxury sports car brand.
Press statement sounds like the usual blah-blah when someone gets fired, but Herr Moers wasn't there long enough to be blamed for anything. Some sources do suggest friction between him and Mr. Stroll (and the new guy) how to carry on from a point A to point B.

I really feel sorry for Seb.

What's going on in Las Vegas? It seems that all those years i had poor understanding who is responsible for preparing, and up-keeping racing facilities. I thought it was the owner of the track, who has to work to FiA' specs, and together with promoter to do the rest. Today I see a headline, that it is Liberty, and by extension teams, whether they like it or not, who is buying land there.
That doesn't looks then as one.off, but long term commitment to that location, regardless how racing will pan out. To that I say, long live gambling, and all that good mafia stuff.

Las Vegas I think have a 10 year contract in place to hold a race. So it is fairly long term. What has happened. is NOT that the teams have bought the land, but the Liberty Group have, along with other local investors..... Liberty own the right to use the name Formula 1 as part of their being the Commercial Rights holder. The teams have separate agreements with Liberty to compete in the Championship and that sets the terms of their return via shares of TV money and other factors.. Liberty ostensibly provide security to the F1 teams via their contracts.

In effect Liberty and its (local) investors have bought land adjacent to the circuit to accommodate the pit complex, Paddock and the VIP areas. In effect as Promoters of the event as in this case, they are improving the facilities to enhance their returns (via additional corporate / fan derived income on the Las Vegas investment, both in terms of facilities and longer term Capital growth of the additional land.

As an aside I just realised I answered a post about Vegas and this is not the Vegas thread..... I have no idea why this topic has suddenly moved to Vegas things rather than the memes. After all we have a Las Vegas thread already.. :whistling:

@Mods if you agree does someone want to shift these last couple of posts to the "Las Vegas is back" thread here: Thanks. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=17523

Teams might not have title to that land, however my money is on bet, that Liberty is getting money for all of that from the teams, one way or another. (Giving them less prize money, etc.) Liberty is not an altruistic organization which is giving money away.
