1994 is one post away from being knocked out.
All right, if needs must I'll go for 1992. Never liked that mustachioed chap, and watching him sleepwalk to an F1 title was no joy.

IMO the 90s were the last decent decade.

The last 20 years have, on the whole, been awful. A few good races here and there certainly - but the seasons themselves are just getting worse and worse.
Yes, this. I would say the late-90s produced the last pure, analogue racing cars too. Totally unspoiled by electronic aids and too much downforce.

Certainly the decade 2010-2019 is one to forget, except 2012 and 2010 itself I would say.
Those two were easily the most enjoyable seasons, with 2012 taking the cake thanks to all those champions on the grid.

OK, I'm going to make a new entry

1999 (15)(+2)
1997 (11)
1996 (11)
1998 (9)
1993 (7)
1990 (7)
1991 (5)(-2)
1995 (3)
1992 (1)
1994 (1)

I downgraded 1991 because it was a dominant season for Senna. At least, that's how it seemed after the first 5 races.
Williams and Mansell came close in the standings by mid season, but Williams unreliability and an upgrade to the Honda engine meant Senna took it. Not too much on track action I can remember.

1999 - I like this season.

I won't forget the 2016 season. Rosberg winning the title. The only year in the Hybrid era someone beat Hamilton. Max' first win and his master class race at Interlagos.
And 2012? 7 Races 7 winners?

Code: Select all

Australian GP = Jenson Button
Malaysian GP = Fernando Alonso
Chinese GP = Nice Rosberg
Bahrain GP = Sebastian Vettel
Spanish GP = Pastor Maldonado
Monaco GP = Mark Webber
Canadian GP = Lewis Hamilton

Further won Kimi Räikkönen the Abu Dhabi GP for Lotus - Renault.

OK, I'll step in.

For me 1990 was a good year mostly because it was interesting to see how well Prost was going to perform in the Ferrari against Mansell. This was the best chance to dethrone the McLaren Honda combo. Plus we got to see the emergence of the Benneton Ford with Piquet winning 2 races. But also because after 2 years of not having a TV, I actually got to watch some of this season.
(I think there were better years maybe, but I'm sticking up for the little guy here).

And I'm downvoting 1996 because with Michael going to an uncompetitive Ferrari, it was simply a walkover for Williams with no real competition (it was a close one with 1992 and 1993 also). Plus I've never been a Damon Hill fan.

1999 (15)
1997 (11)
1996 (9)(-2)
1998 (9)
1993 (7)
1990 (9)(+2)
1991 (5)
1995 (3)
1992 (1)
1994 (1)

I really do think 1999 was the best of the decade (with the emerging Jordan taking some key wins), but many people have already voted that up to the top spot and I'm in agreement.

It's way off topic for this thread, but you are right. 2012 was a great year (even though it had the same outcome as 2010-2013 in the championship)! I would imagine this topic to push to the next couple threads where we rank the 2000's and then the 2010's in a similar fashion.

I would. But my evaluation would be purely speculative. I wasn't born for some of these seasons and/or don't have any memories about most of them at all.

I vaguely remember that I was happy when Mika Häkkinen won his 1st and his 2nd title. Mostly because my brother was a Mercedes fan. I remember being happy that Michael Schumacher was out after his Silverstone crash, not understanding at the time that he was hurt. And that's it.

So please understand that I won't rate the seasons.
