Really wish the championship was decided at Martinsville. Phoenix is such a "meh" venue.
I venture to think they made Phoenix the championship arena because of how "meh" it is. Definitely less influence on bump-and-runs and accidents that can manipulate the outcome of the game at Phoenix compared to Martinsville.
Given how gimmicked and borderline shameless NASCAR has become, I'm surprised they haven't moved the finale somewhere that a bump-and-run would most likely decide the title. Controversy creates cash, as they say.

It is rather funny that a league that has seemingly thrown everything but the kitchen sink into generating chaos chooses a lame duck track to decide the championship.

Very sad. You wrote he is/was a legend, I personally never heard of him - was he quite successful? I read he raced in the Infinity and Truck Series.
Well, he WAS somewhat of a legend in the hearts of fans after he scored a feel good underdog win in the truck series exactly six years ago...
However, details about John's death have come about, apparently he was shot in self-defense after breaking into his ex-wife and husband's house with a fucking axe.

Sounds absolutely insane.
That sounds a bit disturbing, to say the least. So the woman who was injured was his ex-wife. Assuming that her new husband wouldn't have shot her, sounds like she was axed by JWT?
