Bottom post of the previous page:

Disappointing entry in the Super 2 category.... only 13 cars. Good to see that Thomas Randle, currently undergoing treatment for testicular cancer, was able to make a start here at Adelaide before his chemo starts, managed to take pole position, beating Brodie Kostecki by 0.002 secs!

And he led for most of the race and only narrowly lost because of a couple of brake lockups.

It looks like the SuperUtes might be dead for good, can't say I'm sad about it.

Yeah looks like writing on the wall. I wont lose sleep over it either.
Everso Biggyballies wrote: 4 years ago Forgot to mention Saturday is also the day that Jamie Whincup announces his future plans..... whether to continue in the main game or retire from the full time series at the end of the season and do just the enduros, leaving him more time to develop his post retirement plans (He has a business on the side, a café and car wash business on Hope Island on the Gold Coast, as well as being a shareholder of T888.)
Whincup signs for another year.

Well, he made his announcement early, having released a statement tonight to say he has signed a contract with RBR for another year..... taking him through to end of 2021
“My addiction for racing, speed and trying to beat my mates to the finish line started when I was seven years old,” said Whincup in a post on the Red Bull Holden Racing Team website.

“Any thought of finishing full-time driving this year doesn’t sit well with me.”

Whincup had been mulling over retirement from full-time driving, and has added a number of other activities to his life outside of the seat, including a role on the Supercars Commission, in recent years.

“I feel I have plenty to offer this sport from behind the wheel,” he added.

“While my full focus is on this year’s championship and delivering results for our teammates, sponsors and Red Bull Holden fan base, it’s great to know that all the fun will continue well into 2021.

“I thank everyone at the Red Bull Holden Racing Team for the trust in me to showcase your amazing work and commitment in 2021.”
As an aside SVG has confirmed he has signed a multi year deal with the team that will take him through to at least the end of 2022.

So any thoughts that Antoine de Pasquale had of slipping into Whincup's seat next year are now dashed.
If he wants one of the top two seats next year he will have to rely on Scotty Mac giving Supercars with Penske away to hit the Indycar trail Stateside. Earlier this week he said he was happy to do occassional excursions in Indycar and maintaining his Supercars seat full time here. Of course Roger Penske might see things differently and want him in Indycar sooner rather than later. Im not sure how long Coulhard has on his contract. Scotty Mac and ADP would be a pretty good lineup for Penske to consider next year. But that is all hearsay at the moment, said without knowing about Coulthards contract.

And now he's been given a drive through for not obeying the blue flags. What a spud.

It gets better.

Smith was fined yesterday because he forgot to show up to the driver group photo. I don't know how you could ever miss something like that.

Now in the first qualifying session for today's race he's managed to crash hard at turn 8.

I hope his dad is paying Brad Jones a lot of money.

Walkinshaw drop Commodore for 2021.

Big news today is Walkinshaw have confirmed they wont be running a Commodore next year....
No news who oe what it will be but just that, despite the Commodore still be eligible in light of the recent Holden announcements. Maybe something from Chev? They already import LHD Camaros for conversion and sale in their HSV road car division. Or BMW? Who knows.

FWIW Roland Dane, owner of T888 has confirmed he has had meetings with GM as to what their future involvement with Supercars might be. (T888 still have an ongoing contract with Holden to be their works team. He is being very tight lipped about what was discussed or decided, if anything, but has said when the time is right....

Brilliant to see Randle win the Super race in a great tussle. Best of luck to him as he now goes into his Chemo and associated cancer treatment. His future participation is dependant on the outcome and obviously how he feels.
