Hehehe just a bit.
Mind you Sebastien Amadio was last year running a kart before he ended up in an S5000 doing a Sprint (ie against the clock not other cars) last year.

I think he might be from a wealthy background....his family own Amadio Wines in SA, and are listed as his sponsor. I think he also has an affiliation with WAU. From the Amadio wines website you can buy a bottle of 2014 Sebastien’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon for a mere $60 a bottle!

Last year as a 17 year old at High School, when talking about his doing the sprint race one off he said “This could be something I’m looking at doing for next year full time."

I dont think a paper round before school will cover the budget for that!

The 6 hour is on this weekend, but one of the main drawcards (and one of last years winningr team) wont be running.....)

SVG Withdraws from the 6 hour with a Covid diagnosis confirmation

He was set to reunite with Rob Rubis and Shane Smollen as they looked to defend their Bathurst 6 Hour crown. So SVG's diagnosis means he won't make the trip to Bathurst and will also miss out on making his planned Trans Am debut.

Van Gisbergen's place in the BMW will be taken by fellow Supercars driver Percat, who has an existing relationship with Smollen through Pro-Am Porsche Carrera Cup race

And now Covid has hit the TCR Mt Panorama support race.... Fabian Coulthard forced to stand down from his Stan Sport Honda that he has used to win the last couple of races this year at PI.

Coulthard was at Albert Park last weekend in the WAU camp. Several non-driving members of the Supercars paddock are known to have also tested positive to COVID-19 in recent days.

Coulthard will be replaced at Bathurst by Tim Slade who will make his TCR debut.

Here is the schedule for the 6 Hour, starting today:
https://bathurst6hour.com.au/calendar/t ... dule-2022/

Broadcast times are 12 to 6 for Saturday and 9 to 5:30 on Sunday. There has been another high profile withdrawal, Marcos Ambrose was supposed to be making his first major race start since 2015 but they were having some unfixable ECU issues with his Mustang that was causing the car to go into limp mode suddenly.

The reverse grid TCR race today was pretty hectic, I'm pretty sure it was the best they've had at Bathurst so far.

Pole for the 6 Hour was taken by last year's Formula Ford champion Tom Sargeant, an impressive effort considering he was up against several Supercars drivers although he was the only one in a BMW M2 so maybe the smaller BMW has an advantage over the bigger M3/M4s.

I thought they had the same power unit but it seems the same PU but with a lower stage of tune. That of course is for the standard car in the showroom, so whether with a bit of mapping etc im sure the end result might be pretty similar.
In the powertrain department, the BMW M4 gets 431 bhp Petrol engine, whereas the BMW M2 comes in 404 bhp Petrol engine. BMW has plonked in the M3/M4's S55 twin turbo in-line six. But it's been down tuned to offer a tad less power, unlike the extra 20 horses you get on the M4. Torque remains the same at 550 Nm.
Where the M2 would score would be the lower weight I guess. Stock the M2 in manual spec is 3,450 pounds(1565kgs). The M4, on the other hand, comes in at 3,530 pounds (1601kgs) with a manual transmission. For some reason the M3 'Competition' comes in at 1610, but the ordinary one comes in at 1595kgs.

I think the variance may be due to the way they weight the cars. I believe the Comp version might have a larger fuel tank.... Euro regs on weighing cars are that weight is based on a very specific set of parameters.... it is based on a car with 90-percent-full fuel tank, a 150 lb driver, and a 10 lb suitcase. :haha: Apparently, as mentioned that’s to due with EU regulations for weighing cars, as the car needs to be weighed based on 'most likely scenarios'.

Of course there may be unknown aero benefits between one and the others.

In the 6 hour, I just realised that 9 of the top 10 on the grid are BMW's of some sort. The only M2 is in front, M4's 2nd 4th 7th and 8th with M3's 3rd, 5th 6th and 9th.

The fastest non Beemer is the 10th place Merc of Dylan O Keefe. Near enough 4.5 seconds off the pole time

I must admit I thought the Sherrin's BMW (M4) would have been higher than 16th on the grid. They are usually at the pointy end in the race and I think won it in the pre Covid days.

The Sherrin car had a pretty big lose at Sulman Park, it got the wall on both sides but only lightly which is very lucky for them.

The pole-sitting entry of Tom Sargent and Cameron Hill excluded from qualifying for a technical breach.

Post-session checks found the car to be below the minimum ride height, meaning the #147 BMW M2 Competition will be sent to the rear of the field.

Obviously not the best way to start but they seem to have pace a plenty so should get through the feild ok, and no doubt SC's will help with closing the field up.

Jeez, just found that incident here: https://ms-my.facebook.com/transamserie ... 910851546/

Lucky despite the big damage. Could have been much worse.

The BMWs are having some problems early in the race, two of them had issues on lap 1 including Will Davison's car which is now out of contention and now the car that was 2nd has stopped on the main straight bringing out the SC. And now De Pasquale's car has stopped during the safety car... It's very weird, they didn't have many issues last year.

That was bizarre, RX8 died right on the outside of the Cutting and the Lexus tried to go around the outside of him...
