RX8 driver went off track, kept his foot in it and speared into the wall when he probably could have kept going otherwise.
He just seemed to be 20kph too fast coming into the corner, almost like a sticky throttle, and then as said kept his foot in. Maybe it was a sticking throttle kept the revs up and not a heavy right foot. Whatever, the result was a big impact, broadside on across to the other side of the track from where he went wide and off.
Anyway going green again.....

Crikey, the Chase is not the best place to have an engine let go and drop your oil everywhere!..
No contact or damage but another bloody SC to get rid of the dead car and a bit of cleanup I suspect..
In fact a red flag for the clean up. First red flag ever at the 6 hour

Unlike F1, I dont think the cars can be serviced under red.... the cars are line astern in the pit fastlane. Not sure though about the rule. Clock is still counting down.

OK well it seems the cars can be worked on. Cars in the fast lane with jacks under the car.... no driver changes, apparently no new tyres (though some seem to be doing so) no refuelling allowed but some are doing brake pad changes. It does not count as a CPS because technically the race is suspended even though the clock continues to count down.
Its all a bit confusing really. Maybe the Clerk of Course is allowing certain freedoms like tyre changes for safety reasons.
It might later mess with some of the minimum driver stints though.

I put the mockers on the Sherrin car by talking up its chances, and it looks like a subframe mounting has broken. They wont be winning today now thats for sure.
Re the Lexus it seemed a bit ambitious from the Astra trying to pass it, pushing it wide and first stop the wall.
Anyway another restart with just over an hour and a half to go.

To be honest I don't think the Astra did anything wrong, the Lexus looked like it was offline and then it turned in. Almost looked like it might have had an issue with how much faster the Astra was going then it.
So, maybe the Ojeda car currently 5th, in the box seat.... they have done all their 90 second CPS and only need to stop once for fuel, a much shorter stop over those still with 1 90 second stop to make.. On top of that Ojeda is fastest on track atm.

Another SC for a Holden stopped on track on the mountain. Good opportunity for the final fuel stops..... 1:11 to go and the BMW tanks last 1:10!
So a bit of fuel saving or another SC and it can run without another stop.

Indeed all headed to pitlane for their final stop. Ojeda thanks to only needing fuel against other still with one CPS to do of minimum 90 secs comes out of pitlane with a good gap and are in a good position. They will not be wanting another SC to erode their lead.
Edit: Forgot we are still under SC.... but Ojeda has good track position and now with the SC out no need for fuel management.
