Unless it is Irish Whiskey.... the Whiskey in a jar brew anyway.

On the subject of whisky:

Amos Milburn: Bad, Bad Whiskey. A number one American R&B hit in 1950/1951 for a dude whose frantic boogie-woogie piano style on some of his tracks pre-empted rock and roll, in many respects, and also influenced the likes of Fats Domino, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Although this is a blues ballad, and bares no resemblance to rock and roll.

That's great, thanks!

Drinking song with a timelessly relevant social comment from Hallows Eve.

Here's another great on-topic song from same:

Good thing the Scotch is ordered first, as the other stuff would ruin it...

BTW, you're right, it's not R'n'R, it's more like early doo-wop.

Doo-wop? I didn't suggest it was like doo-wop, and anyway it's nothing like doo-wop.

This is early R'N'R, well, it's boogie-woogie really, but it's close enough to R'N'R, incidentally this is from the same dude:

This is early doo-wop, although actually, it's a rhythm and blues vocal group, but you get the point:

Another song from that era about alcohol, this time it's wine:

Stick McGhee: Drinkin' Wine Spo-dee-o-dee. It's not a country song, and this is the 1947 version.

Stick McGhee: Drinkin' Wine Spo-dee-o-dee. This is the hit version from 1949. Again, a song that pre-empted rock and roll to quite an extent.

As a side note, the chorus was originally going to be:
Drinkin' wine, spo-dee-o-dee, drinkin' wine, motherfuckers, drinkin' wine spo-dee-o-dee, goddamnit! Pass that bottle to me!
The "bomp-bomp" bit inbetween the drinkin' wine bits was probably to replace the bad language.

John Lee Hooker: Whiskey and Wimmen.

Whisky, the drink of bluesmen and early NASCAR drivers.

Lowell George - Willin.

In the ill fated now closed name a song from quoted lines, this is the song that my last (and ultimately unanswered) quote was from
...Driven the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed
And if you give me: weed, whites, and wine...
Weed whites and wine must qualify it for this thread....
