I mean what is this crap? Does anyone read them with interest?

Vettel eyes solid start to 2011

Alonso: I don't fear Vettel (It took TWO people to write this!)

It's all bullshit really, as if Vettel was eying a weak start, or Alonso was scared of Vettel.

I never read those stories. The Alonso not fearing Vettel story was even mentioned at RTL GP.

well, the title of that first article is just plain wrong as it suggests Alonso doesn't fear Vettel for this year's championship.
While in fact, it deals with something different, namingly the prospect of Alonso and Vettel being teammates.

But anyway, I don't read these stories either. What happens on the track is what matters and of course there will always be rivalry between the drivers - as there should be!

It should come as no surprise that during this period these types of stories keep cropping up. Journalists are employed to find topics to write on then publish them. They don't get enforced time off during the off season, they just have to ask questions we care little about and give us fodder to fill up their employee's website and / or publications.

Like politicians they must show there is a need for their existence
If a man can't look at danger and still go on, man has stopped living. If the worst ever happens – then it means simply that I've been asked to pay the bill for the happiness of my life – without a moment's regret. Graham Hill

Best fix that for you right now.....
Raikkonen 'key' to Qatar sponsor for Williams
Oct.5 (GMM)
Williams sees Kimi Raikkonen as the key to securing a major new sponsor, according to a Finnish newspaper.

The 2007 world champion recently visited the British team's headquarters, and rumours in Singapore said the parties are serious about potentially working together next season.

According to Ilta Sanomat newspaper, signing Raikkonen could secure the team the backing of the part state-owned Qatar National Bank.

Williams already has links with Qatar, including the Williams Technology Centre located in the Arab emirate.

The report said Sir Frank Williams has been trying "for several years" to sign the Qatari bank as a sponsor.

During his last grand prix as Williams' technical director in Singapore two weeks ago, Sam Michael was asked if the team is now taking its driver decisions on financial grounds.

"I think Williams will make the choices that are best for the company and the best results. That's what it will come down to," he said.

The Australian also hinted that Pastor Maldonado, strongly backed by Venezuala, is set to stay in 2012.

"You can definitely start to see the signs as to whether a rookie is capable or not by mid-season and I would definitely put Pastor Maldonado in that category," he said.

"And if he wasn't in that category, he wouldn't have kept his drive going forward. So I can see the guy having an even stronger year next year," added Michael.

Maybe I'm just rose-tinting because I didn't follow it so much until the last couple of years, but I get the distinct impression that F1 media has gone rapidly downhill over the last 12 months or so

Basically, the reader has a choice:

- dumbed down simplistic stuff from the BBC which only focuses on the top drivers

- trashy speculative stuff from the likes of Autosport or, even worse, GMM

- miserable rants and whinges from the old hacks like Saward

I think it's because of the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, similar to the "Rosa ribbon" over here. They use pink very much in newspapers and in their ribbons to symbolize the most horrific of diseases that destroys those lovely, innocent boobies.

Heh, boobies.

But seriously, it's something not to be taken lightly.
