Which race would you rewatch again like it was the first time?

Racing events, drivers, cars or anything else from the past.

Inspired a bit by PT's thread on where would you go...

Imagine you could re-experience a race that you've already seen live again, but like you were watching it for the first time. You don't know the result or what will happen. You just get to recapture the feeling you had watching it.

What would you watch?

For me, Spa 1998. That was just bonkers. Crashes galore, Chin losing his rag, an unexpected winner. Murray.

Had it all, and seeing Chin's smugness get wiped off was just brilliant.

Followed by Monaco 1996 (what will happen next?) and Australia 2002 (the sheer emotional investment!).

1978 South African GP. For example. The longer I think about it, the more races I recall worth rewatching, but certainly nothing as recent as the above - by then, my love was at best lukewarm.

This is really hard to decide, because I've watched so many of my favourite races repeatedly. Spa 1998 is one of those races that makes me feel like I'm watching it for the first time every time I see it, because it's so crazy.

I would have to go for the 1999 European GP at the Nurburgring. It was a close your eyes for a few minutes and you miss something kind of race, with a totally unexpected result.

Not every day you end up with two Stewarts and a Prost Peugeot on the podium together!
