The Music Industry

Post by Ruslan »

Supposed to be working, but it is kind of tedious... so I found myself trolling the news. Microsoft does have these little click baits... which often lure me in. In the case, I thought this one was particularly interesting and decided to post it:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/do ... =8#image=1

Few interesting points:

#6: Pop musicians have shorter lifespans than everyday people (actually, I knew, but interesting to see that someone is collecting statistics on this).
#7: Average song length is 3 minutes, 42 seconds.
#8: Musicians earn an average of $30,39 an hour.
#23: Music industry employees typically earn $41,935 per year.
#31: Major record labels signed 658 new artists in 2017 (I think it used to be a lot more).
#40: Mental health conditions plague 70$% of musicians.

Back to work...

I was just about to contest that when I realised it wasn't the 1980s thirty years ago :annoyed:

I try not to be too judgmental about these things. We are the older generation now. But...

And I bring you.....

The theme of "Video Killed the Radio Star" is thus nostalgia, with the lyrics referring to a period of technological change in the 1960s, the desire to remember the past and the disappointment that children of the current generation would not appreciate the past.

* I started life with nothing, and still have most of it left

“Good drivers have dead flies on the side windows!” (Walter Röhrl)

* I married Miss Right. Just didn't know her first name was Always

OK, how about a ranking of all the James Bond theme songs (I do agree with #1): https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment ... rJ#image=1

They did leave out "Never Say Never Again," the 1967 version of Casino Royal and the 1954 version of Casino Royal with "Card Sense Jimmy Bond" working for the Combined Intelligence Agency.

Still getting these rankings lists in my news feed (perhaps because I keep looking at them). This one is interesting (top 25 best-selling albums): https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment ... 10#image=1

I have eight of these albums in my collection (but not Thriller, Dark Side of the Moon, or Led Zeppelin IV).
