@Vassago Thanks for the pictures. I also posted some videos here including a spectator shot of the car flying down the bank on the other side of the barrier:

Meanwile Lawson takes pole for Race 2 but Nojiri only gets one point for 3rd place so even if he wins the race, Miyata can still finish 2nd and claim the title by 0.5 pts. Mugen would need Lawson to finish between them (I kinda rule out Ohta from this order and I doubt Tsuboi would hamper fellow Toyota driver and Super GT teammate Miyata either).

Well, so much for Ohta being a non-factor. He won the race ahead of Lawson and Miyata jumped Nojiri for 3rd from the start and held ground to claim the championship! Lawson finished runner-up 0.5 pts ahead of Nojiri.

Last round of this years F2 Championship this weekend at Abu Dhabi. Qualifying on now. A lot of those F2 drivers involved in F1 P1 rookie duties hae had to jump straight out of their F1 cars and into the F2 cars which must be a bit of an anti-climax after the relative rush of an F1 car.

Can I just echo some of the online sentiment aroudn F2 right now - having a 70 odd day break between races is a totally ridiculous way to finish a championship. I totally understand the logistical issues, but this is absolutely ridiculous.

Sprint Race about to start. Vesti and Pourchaire fight it out for the title to be dcided this weekend. Pourchaire and Vesti the two its between, Pourchaire with a lead of 25 points so if he beats Vesti in the Sprint it should be all over. However Vesti is 2nd on the grid for this race, Pourchaire further back in 14th for both this and the feature race
