Why don't they run in Michigan or Fontana anymore?

Money.
They are both NASCAR owned tracks, they don't like having Indycars around these days. Fontana seems to be going the way of Riverside by the looks of it.

Don't know/remember the specifics of why each race was cancelled, it was due to financials and contracts through. That said, they were too dangerous and I certainly was glad to see them gone. I don't think the community missed them either. I mean, Indy is on the verge of being too dangerous, and these two tracks were faster.
