Why do you think it's such a long shot though? It's an oval, and one where he's been hugely successful in NASCAR (four wins at the Brickyard 400) and he showed at Texas that he can run pretty well in an Indycar on an oval. Given the month-long prep at Indy, I think he'll mount a formidable challenge.
Yeah I thought after I had posted that maybe I was being a bit harsh and that given ovals are his thing and his track record at the track..... but I still think that for a win he is dreaming and its just too much of a long shot. I know he did ok at Texas, but I just think Indy is an altogether different occasion. Top 6 maybe but a win, not so sure. A lot of competition with a lot more relevant experience than his.

Your point of a month to get dialled in is very valid though, and something I had not taken on board when I wrote my initial comment.

It will be interesting for sure. I guess in the back of my mind is just how totally underwhelming he was on the road tracks last year.
Im prepared to eat my words.
If he raced like he did at Texas I don't see a reason why he wouldn't have a chance. Personally, I don't think he will win, however, if he can stay out of trouble he could probably run well!

I reckon Tiger Woods has more chance of winning the US Masters this weekend.

But I have been wrong before. :haha: :haha:

Yeah, he's *a chance*. Maybe instead of 1-in-33 he's 1-in-20 or 1-in-15 though.

Johnson undergoes surgery after suffering hand fracture at Long Beach

I guess we all know he fractured a wrist over the weekend but was cleared ok to race. His race was just a continuation of the disaster his weekend had been, ending in another crash, and a statement following the race that he would be seeing a specialist on Monday to check what action was best on his injury given the closeness to May and Indy. Nett result is that JJ has already had surgery and said
“From Long Beach to the operating room. Good news is, I plan to be ready for the IMS test in 9 days and Barber on May 1st. Thank you to all the medical staff involved.”
IMS will, weather allowing, host a two-day test on the 2.5-mile oval on the 20-21 April and JJ is expected to complete his Rookie Orientation Program which he started last Autumn.

Given the nature of the course, IMS is less likely to put strain on his sore right hand than at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham due to the high g-forces and long corners at the track

Want to know something crazy?

Jimmie Johnson is ahead of Jack Harvey in the points. And Callum Ilott. And Kellett, and Kirkwood and DeFrancesco.
