BMW was in the bottom two, along with the Renault. Best looking cars of that year were the Brawn and the Ferrari.

Yes
The nose saves the Toyota. The BMW and Renault cars look like the designers used Lego blocks too build the front ends.

I don't fully understand how Arturo actually saw where he was going.

The sheer ugliness of the Brawn BGP-001 can only be appreciated when you see it painted in Mercedes colours.

To be honest, I prefer it to all the modern cars! I mean, just look further up the current page. Ouch.
But yeah, that's an odd one.

He didn't need to. All he ever saw was the rear view mirrors, which was most important given how slow that car was!

I have a strange rejection toward the number of 1981 F1 cars. I found the F1 cars in 1980 and 1982 the most beautiful.
In 1981 some cars featured those big shovel front wings which were non-proportionate. Also, the transition from the 1980 conservative yet stylish look (Williams, Ligier, Renault, Alfa Romeo) into 1981 with additional meet on the noses (plus snow shovels) did not do any favor to the aesthetics. Strangely in 1982 as if some of them ripened in the most beautiful and proportionate cars: Renault, Ferrari, ATS, Ligier, to name a few, became again stylish and pleasing to the eyes. Only Tyrrell kept that fat nose.

Even the Ferrari in 1981 was not as beautiful as the previous cars. Fortunately, the 126 C2 (the 1982 model) was a very good-looking car

It was quite a shock to get an idea of how the 2009 F1 cars would look.
