Actually it looks like he just lost it on the entrance to the kink into the final hairpin and slammed the wall. Maybe it knocked out the brakes when he hit because he didn't lock them up or lose much speed at all after the initial impact.

A 25 second time penalty was applied to SVG, which drops him to 5th in the results and gives McLaughlin the win expanding Scotty's points lead to 53 points meaning that if he finishes 6th or higher he wins the title.

And that is if SVG wins. If SVG comes 2nd then Scotty will need to finish Shane needs to finish 9th, 3rd Scott has to finish 10th. Of coursse if he finishes 6th it is guaranteed wherever Shane finishes.

As an aside I think it was a fair cop, given the rules as they are. Svg wasnt happy.... he labelled his post-race penalty 'shit' and claimed that Supercars has 'taken away' his hopes of winning a second championship. Speaking to TV crews after this morning's qualifying session, van
