Looking at it again, I can't really see anything.

Well, I think those spectators were standing somewhere they shouldn't have been standing. There's a secondary wire fence behind the cameraman and those large debris fences won't protect anyone if they're standing up against them.
So we have organisers/marshals to blame for not demanding people stand in a safe place.

Sometimes you can warn people a hundred times. They won't listen when they feel secure behind that big fence. And btw. did you expect a car to go over that fence in such a way? I mean first getting airborne, then hitting that tire barrier exactly at that spot and then going over that fence. It is a bit like that crash of Villeneuve at Melbourne. A wheel hitting a marshal through a hole in that barrier.

That was a freak accident, the same as this one was. I don't think anyone has crashed like that at the Flugplatz since Manfred Winkelhock 35 years ago.
The Nurby owners need to call Herman Tilke. He'll know how to solve the problem.

Flugplatz-Schwedenkreuz is probably the most dangerous/challenging corners in the world.

Unfortunately, this means a 10 x 10 km flattened out skidpad with some white lines and a couple cones tracing out a "circuit"PTRACER wrote:That was a freak accident, the same as this one was. I don't think anyone has crashed like that at the Flugplatz since Manfred Winkelhock 35 years ago.

i guess he was hit at 0:28-0:29. at 0:36 in the video you can hear somebody yell a name in a worrying way.Ian-S wrote:So you thinking it hit someone behind where the cameraman was, or where the car originally went over the fence?
the person who made that video knew the victim.
i think the part between fuchsröhre and adenauerforst is more challenging.Cheeveer wrote:Flugplatz-Schwedenkreuz is probably the most dangerous/challenging corners in the world.

Didn't realise the second fence was the boundary of someone's property.

I read someone replying that the Nismo is very light at the front of the car. I think that would remarkable because it is a front engined car. And Ian, your remark about a rear suspension failure: The Nismo starts to flip before it actually reaches the crest. So it could be possible. But there are no sparks or smoke.

Temporary ban top classes at Nürburgring - Nordschleife lifted!!
http://sportscar365.com/gt/gt3-ban-lift ... announced/sportscar365.com wrote:The DMSB has announced safety measures that will allow GT3 cars to compete at the Nurburgring Nordschleife again, following last month’s accident that killed a spectator.
A round table meeting with drivers, representatives of the various manufacturers and race organizers as well as the federation’s own safety and technical experts was held today in Germany.
“All the participants agreed that everything had to be done to avoid accidents in which spectators could be harmed,” said DMSB chairman Hans-Joachim Stuck.
“Now, we have decided to implement measures to allow these cars to race again, albeit with certain restrictions.
“At the same time, the DMSB will install an expert commission to search for mid-term solutions that can be implemented after the season.
