The amount of knee-jerking following Bowyer's spin has been unreal.

When will NASCAR DQ an illegal car??
The front end of Logano's car was too low after post-race inspections. Still he keeps his victory.

Never. NASCAR have a policy to never completely DQ a car that's been to victory lane. Fines and point deductions is what happens instead. Which in Logano's case is pointless, but in Cup it's a bigger deal.

And that is what i meant. Somehow it still gives you an advantage when you cheat. Even after you get a penalty. Kyle Larson has NOT that Trophy at home. He won't be in the books having a win at Dover.
It is that silly rule that the spectators have to go home having a winner, even when he cheated.

Read some encouraging news today.
It could be the best thing they've done in years. Remember how fantastic the racing was with the late 2000-2001 plate package due to the wickers? It was almost like DRS on a mass scale. I've been clamoring for the wicker to be brought back for years now and run it everywhere to generate huge runs on the straights and help bring cars side by side going into the corner.NASCAR officials are apparently considering a number of possibly significant rules tweaks for 2014:
-- Elimination of the minimum height rule. That would be to end the rather meaningless post-race controversies and penalties for cars being 'too low' after a race. Some worry, though, that such a rule would force teams to discard thousands of dollars of expensive springs. However the current rules have led teams to spend huge sums on very trick springs.
-- Adding roof 'wickers,' similar to used in years past, designed to break up air flow over the roof and presumably make it easier for a trailing car to pass.(Mike Mulhern.net)(10-11-2013)

taking away the splitter would be a good idea too.

yes, but then Nascar would agree with Denny Hamlin, who said after the second (!) race that the cars are too aero dependent.

It wasn't the greatest plate race I've ever seen, these cars are way too aero dependant (evident by Dillons crash at the end), NASCAR needs to get back to a package where the cars are not completely reliant on aerodynamics in order for the drivers to stay in control, get rid of the splitters, put blades on the roof and do whatever is needed to the rear spoiler to make it that lifting the air off it isn't an immediate guaranteed spin like it is now. Basically what happened there was Dillons car had so much from downforce that when whoever was behind swept across his wake, it took all the downforce off the rear and spun the car instantly, a bit like how an F1 car reacts when the rear wing falls off., on the flip side of this, this huge reliance on aero for downforce is why nobody can overtake, as soon as they get close to the car infront the air is taken off their splitter and they push like a dumptruck.
They used to run these cars, at these speeds, on these tracks, 15 years ago without the huge aero dependency just fine, the racing might have been similar, but at least back then they could genuinely overtake the guy in front without the need play silly buggers. Fix the tyres too, I knew as soon as they got single file (because the tyres were fucked) they would never get back into a pack.
