This is Spinal Tap

I presume that we have many members who are big fans of Spinal Tap, and particularly the wonderful movie This is Spinal Tap.

If there is a funnier movie about any subject, I would like to see it. Every scene is absolutely "spot on" in terms of its observation and acting, and the way in which even the most hilarious parts are delivered in a deadpan way by the actors makes the movie.

Favourite Spinal Tap songs - Stonehenge, and Jazz Odyssey!

Favourite scene from the film - either the "Lick My Love Pump" scene, or the part where Nigel Tufnel struggles with the backstage catering arrangements!

There are obvious nods to the Lennon/Yoko Ono/McCartney situation with the tensions between Nigel Tufnel and David St. Hubbin's wife. Has anyone spotted in the movie any other parallels with "real-life" scenarios in rock n roll? Some of the script seems influenced by the antics of Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and others.

Favourite song is Big Bottom :haha:

To me the most hilarious part is on stage when this cocoon does not open

You might end up dying in a bizarre gardening accident, or choking on somebody else's vomit! :haha:

One of the best lines from the movie came from the drummer himself:

"As long as there is sex and drugs, I can do without the rock n roll!"

I remember vaguely an article in either Metal Hammer or Rockhard from 92 or 93, maybe 94.
It build up on what could be seen at the end of the 'This is Spinal Tap' movie when it was revealed that the band would go for tour through Japan.
It was kept in interview format and started asking where the guys were for such a long time. "Well we toured Japan and lost our passports. Then we got back to Switzerland over some crazy ways"...

It is the only artefact I remember of that article but I clearly remember it was a longer one.

Another great thing about the movie is the quality of the acting by even the minor characters, such as Artie Fufkin, the promo guy from the record company, and the limo driver near the start of the film.
