Idea to move Serious Discussion and Video Games to the Index

#1

Post by PTRACER »

For someone who's just joined and is quickly scrolling down the Index page looking at the forum titles, they're very easy to miss.

My way of thinking is - if new members have nothing to say about motorsport when they first join, then maybe we can get them to talk about something else first. Get them comfortable with posting here about computers and video games, and politics/religion (serious discussion) and then eventually they might post in the Motorsport sections.

It may work, it may not. I'd just like to give it a trial period until the end of January and see if it has any postive effect.

Does anyone agree/disagree to this? I'll require a 70%/30% split in the poll before going ahead with the changes.

I voted 'Yes', as I think it's a good idea. Enough said

Good idea, maybe it attracts some new members. But i have to admit that i have doubts if it will help in a big way. 644 "members" out of 1142 with no posts..... That is more than a half!! Then i get the feeling they only go for the videos.

If they had nothing to say about motorsport, why would they bother to join or even take a closer look at this board? I wouldn't join a football forum just because there's a good off topic section....
Anyway, the idea still might not be bad, so I wouldn't mind if you gave it a try.

Would anyone object if I merged The Couch and Serious Discussion with The Lounge? As in, move all the posts to The Lounge and then delete the forums...

I think the couch is a good topic, and to me it good like it is now.
But i'm glad it is starting up again after a long rest.

I've got rid of Serious Discussion. Very rarely used.

Just a thought, but I reckon the forum would benefit if you replaced the 'Serious Discussion' section, which has now been removed, with a music section - It'd be quite popular if you think about it

We can give it a go, if you want to dig out all the music related threads from The Lounge.

Well, I think it's a good idea, perhaps if you're unsure you can put it to a vote - but it doesn't seem like it'd be something that'd take 7days (Like building the world!)
