Whincup out of the 10 after the flag. Slade knocked him out at the death.
What a great session that was.... Provisional pole for Will Brown.

So after qualy its Brown from ADP, Mostert, Slade, Waters, B.Kostecki, SVG, Davison, Percat, and Le Brocq. They all go through to the shootout tomorrow.

Great performance from Erebus with 1st and 6th. Best team showing of all.

Got to nip out ill post the rest later.

Lowndes looked a bit glassy eyed after Whincup failed to get into the top 10 shootout. Funny how qualifying is such big deal for a 1000km race!

Is it just Chevy and Ford? Or is Nissan coming back.

They look and sound the part at least. The Mustang doesn't look like a toy anymore.
There have been threats of "talks with other manus. but it never gets further than a threat followed by a general denial from the manu of serious interest. Walkinshaw Andretti United were said to be talking to BMW.... that got as far as a few renders. But in WAU words, we are talking to others. My thought also is, do the likes of BMW and Merc want to take on GM and Ford? Not their competition in the marketlace.
The WAU/Jaguar rumours have resurfaced today (supposedly a handshake deal has been done), although it's only James Phelps (i.e. News Corp) who've said anything which doesn't exactly make me convinced it's actually happening.

Cheers for the roundup :).

Maybe something like a Kia Stinger would fit in.

But agree. The 'muscle GT' space they occupy is different to the 'Euro prestige GT' space.

They are not pushing but man they sound good. Got to say for all its critics they look the part. They look like the real cars not like the mess they made of the Gen 2 Mustang.

And im very pleased to see them running a stick shift today not paddle. (More on that issue discussed in the Gen 3 thread)

You can see details and a video of this morning's unveiling / launch in the Gen 3 thread here: viewtopic.php?p=417296#p417296
I hope DTM is watching.

If the brands are not interested... you can watch what you want.

If DTM wants to go back to a touring car Series, they have to look if it is possible to run it with 4-door cars. GT3 are two-door coupé's. Until now they can only survive with GT3 cars.

That was nearly a massive crash in S5000 at the Chase. Thankfully everyone's OK by the looks of it.

Yeah particularly scary. Not sure if it was Mawson and Boys but someone tried to go through the entry to the Chase 2 wide! In the process Mawson tagged Boys rear wheel and it was on. Touched wheels and spun down towards the Chase and then across the track to the outside, involving others as well. I think Katayama ,completely unknowing, in the dustcloud, of what had happened and collected Boys as they spun across the track. Result was a number of varyingly bent cars littered around.

I was just thinking how great it is to see big open wheelers going across the Mountain, and generally them being at Bathurst. And then that happens. Good that everyone seemed to walk away but ......

I think that is the 3rd S5000 race to end up being red flagged and shortened due to contact this week.

Wow that was some session.....

Mostert took pole with a stunning 2:03.3736s.... a new qualy record.

SVG was the first to put a decent time down with a 2:04.365s from his 7th to go top.
Next out was Brodie K who put in a blinder to go half a second quicker with a 2:03.773s, quickest lap of the week.

Then Waters ut in a wall nudging 2:03.686s to take over the top.
Slade then went to P3, unable to get into the 3's, but then......

Mostert came out all guns blazing with a triple purple new record of 2:03.3736. Unbelievable lap.
Then ADP came out and ended up P2 on a 2:03.663s

Last out provisional pole setter Will Brown could not match those times and ended up behind Brodie .

A brilliant series of laps and that lap from Chaz was as good as I have seen.

Erebus Motorsport has had both of its entries disqualified from the Top 10 Shootout.

The team’s Commodores were found to be underweight following the one-lap dash around Mount Panorama on Saturday.

As a result, that promotes the entries of Tim Slade/Tim Blanchard, Shane van Gisbergen/Garth Tander, Will Davison/Alex Davison, Nick Percat/Dale Wood, and Jack Le Brocq/Zak Best up two places each, the Slade/Blanchard the first of those in fourth.

Brown and Kostecki tenth and ninth.
Motorsport Australia stewards summary read: “After the Session the DRD received a report from the HoM that during Parc Ferme the doors on Car #9, Will Brown/Jack Perkins, and on Car #99, Brodie Kostecki/David Russell, were weighed by Supercars Technical personnel and the left front, left rear and right rear doors on Car #9 ,and the right rear door on Car #99, were found to be under the minimum weight for each such door prescribed by the VSD for the 2021 ZB Commodore in breach of Rule C2.1.1.

“Following a Hearing, the Stewards disqualified both Car #9 and Car #99 from the TTSO.”
It seems the overall weight of the cars was not an issue and both met the minimum, but the doors were underweight. Seems harsh given the cars themselves were not underweight. I must admit I was unaware that there were weight requirements on individual components lik doors, as long as the car itself in total was not underweight.

Oh shit, huge crash at the Chase in the S5000 again caused by people going side by side through there. Luckily there wasn't a flip. Cameron made pretty heavy contact with the wall and Leeds ended up in the sand. Looks like everyone's OK again thankfully.
