Murphy/Stanaway Bathurst 1000 wildcard 'threat' getting serious and firming up.
Totally aside from the weekend..... what started as a bit of a PR jerk off to counter the Ingall surprise Bathurst wildcard, Boost Mobile joked online that he would pay to bring Greg Murphy (now knocking 50) out of retirement to do a wildcard Bathurst with the disappointing, injury prone and gave it all away young hope and Boost driver Richie Stanaway.
Well, it seems some people started to take it seriously and what was a joke became a serious plan. Sources have indicated the situation is progressing nicely in the background and a deal has been done with the drivers. The entry would be totally backed by Boost Mobile. (How Murphy fits into their we wont back old drivers only young ones philosophy I dont know. Then again Courtney has long been backed by Boost and he is within 10 years of Murphy agewise!)
Anyway long time Motorsports fan Peter Adderton (Owner of Boost Mobile) comes up with some crackpot ideas and according to Boost protege James Courtney he says if Adderton wants it to happen, it will.
And Adderton wants to do it if only to take the PR hype away from the T888 Ingall Feeney wildcard that started it all. I wont be surprised if it all becomes official. Oh well, another car at Bathurst has to be good. The basic field has got a bit lean of late.
