Whincup pitted first and forced Scott and Waters to do the same the following lap.... but no change in the first 3.

I know it's Sunday 7 am in Poland but Polish TV commentator says Cameron Waters is a "handsome man and popular with the ladies".

Right. I won't dispute that call!

Mid race distance now and no change in the (Corrected for pitstops) top order. A bit of a gap between Waters and Scotty but Scott has his eyes more on his rear view mirroe as being the main target.... He wont be wanting to burn up tyres chasing the win if it means he might fall behind Whincup in the final laps with no tyre life left.

Lol re Waters comments

@Everso Biggyballies Well, there are some more meaningful comments. The guy is more a NASCAR expert since the station also covers that series. He also thinks McLaughlin is talented enough to fight for Top 5 finishes in IndyCar if he gets a full-time opportunity.

The first three are pretty well spaced out now and 7 laps to go so looking grim for Whincup and the title.

SVG is up 16 spots in this race. Now 6th.

Mostert runs wide on the last lap.

Waters wins.

McLaughlin is the 3x champion. Which is good for Bathurst.

Waters wins the race, Scott wins the championship, Whincup on the podium.
I think Mostert went a bit wide somewhere.... anyway SVG passed him for 5th.

Yeah, Mostert run wide in Turn 6.

Waters' win means he gets a bigger cushion on SVG in battle for 3rd in the standings.

I guess the next big news will relate to Penske and his undecided continuance with V8SC... although the team will continue with or without him from what I gather. ( I have heard rumours that Ryan Story will increase his shareholding and take over / buy Penske's shares).
Plus of course Scott's future and what country it is in. Those decisions will all I guess be post Bathurst.
I think both Coulthard and Scott are out of contract in terms of V8SC at the end of the season.

Before that we should now have a no holds barred all in effort for the Bathurst win, with no other championship win type pressures to influence things. Of course the minor title place battles will continue, but a Bathurst win is a bigger accolade than minor places in the championship.

Just after I posted to say Scott was out of contract at the end of the year he has just posted a statement saying he has a contract with DJRTP for next year, but it does not stipulate in what or where. This statement whilst vague just alludes to options and the Penske Aus future.

Team Championship

The battle for the teams’ championship is still on, with DJR Team Penske’s lead over Triple Eight Race Engineering now exactly 100 points with 576 still up for grabs.

Red Bull copped a 30 point penalty today along with a $1500 fine for a mix up in a pitstop today...... Whincup appeared to hit his right-hand wheel man’s rattle gun as he entered the pit box for his compulsory pit stop, with the impact causing Car #88 to drag the air line. It also added a few seconds to the stop time and cost JW a couple of places in race 2.
