Bottom post of the previous page:

Lowndes/Richards win it!

It may not have been one of the more exciting 1000s but it will be one of the more remembered ones.

Triple Eight got a fine for not tightening the wheel properly on #1 (which resulted in it falling off).

Certainly not the best in terms of excitement and we missed out on any traditional / usual sub 1 second win, but somehow with the Erebus dramas and the potential winner it made it addictive and impossible to switch channels to watch the Japanese F1 race (although I do admit I switched over for the start and until the Max attack on Kimi on lap 2 before switching back.

But yes I agree one of the more memorable ones.

Really gutted for Reynolds, he was the class of the field all day until his issues. But still so so happy for Lowndes! I fought the race was great, a proper endurance classic.

I see Roland Dane reckons Craig has (at least) another 5 Bathursts in him and will likely match Brockies 9 wins. Not out of the question since Craig will be paired with SVG or Whincup.

Waters unapologetic for Bathurst outburst

Rightfully I think, no back down or apology from Cam Waters over his outburst when teamate Mostert effectively took out what had been the leading Ford, pushing it into the wall. Damage to the steering led to a lengthy repair and loss of several laps.

It was without doubt an unnecessary move by Mostert. Anyway no apology for the outburst but they have moved on. Easy with Mostert heading straight off to the airport and Petit Le Mans BMW dutues straight after his stint at Bathurst
Waters was left fuming when his co-driver David Russell was run into the wall at Forest’s Elbow by Mostert early in the second stint at Bathurst last Sunday, labelling it a “dumb move” from his fellow Ford driver.

His raw emotion was then captured via the in-car camera mic, Waters leaning into the cockpit and telling Russell, still strapped in the cars during repairs, “sorry man, we just got f**ked up by our f**king teammate."

Reflecting on his reaction , Waters isn’t backing down from his initial response to the clash. Instead he says it’s a sign of how much the Bathurst 1000 means to him, and how disappointed he was to be taken out of contention so early.

“I was pretty fired up, but it's the biggest race of the year and we had a fast car,” said Waters.

“It was pretty early on in the race. That's why I was fired up; to see all the hard work that the team and everyone puts into it, to be sitting out of the race – whoever's fault it is – is just frustrating.

“I guess you probably all know I care about my racing now. No one wants to be sitting out of any race. I got fired up, but that's what the sport means to me at that race. I just let a bit of emotion come out, which is just natural I think.

“There's no more to it. We'll move on, go to [Gold Coast] and hopefully we're competitive there.”

Waters said the pair briefly cleared the air before Mostert jetted off to the US to race a BMW at the Petit Le Mans.

“Chaz was on a plane straight to America so we couldn't really get to speak about the incident [in the debrief], but Chaz and I spoke after the race about it,” he said.

“I know it wasn't intentionally done or anything. We're both big boys, we'll go to Gold Coast. There's no grudges or anything held.

“We just all move onto the next one.”

A just released piece of nothing news regarding the Prime Ministers visit to the great race this year.....
It seems a day out at the races was laced with a few financial penalties (total of $1300) for one fan, found guilty of abusing the PM, calling him a F**king Muppet, and then being sprung with naughty things in his bag.... :haha:
A race fan has been fined $500 for hurling abuse after calling Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison a ‘f***ing muppet’ at this year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

Tasmanian man Allan Maccaul was convicted of behaving in an offensive manner according to a report in the Western Advocate.

Morrison was greeting fans behind Garage 1 during a visit to the Great Race in October when Mccaul reportedly called the PM a “f***ing muppet” on two occasions.

The 26-year-old man was warned by Protection Operations Unit officers before making the second abusive comment.

He was later placed under arrest by Police after a search of his bag found the race fan was in possession of a small amount of outlawed drugs, which resulted in a further two $400 fines.
