Bottom post of the previous page:

It is the final round of the BTCC this weekend at Silverstone. It's tight between the top three and both Jackson and Nash have an outside shot. The big news heading into this weekend is that James Thompson is coming back and will be supporting Mat Jackson in a Motorbase Ford Focus.

Great to see Thommo back in BTCC. Hopefully he'll find a full time ride for 2012.

I really feel that the BTCC needs JT. It is a crying shame he's not had a full time drive since 2004, although that is because he decided to head off to WTCC for a while.

Apparantly Jason Plato wasn't the only BTCC racer in his family. Keith O'dor was a relation, Plato's cousin. I never knew that.

Wow, that is interesting. How closely related were they? (as in first cousin, second cousin, third cousin etc)

First cousins I think.

As for Plato, it's just been announced that he'll race an MG6 for 888 Racing in this year's BTCC with Andy Neate ( ) joining him.

Here's an artists impression

So in the early 2000's Proton became the first Malaysian manufacturer to enter the BTCC. And now in 2012 MG become the first Chinese manufacturer.

Chevy & RML have announced they will not be participating in the 2012 BTCC. Following the announcement of the 888 MG plans things were looking uncertain over at RML (for BTCC) although Alex MacDowell has recently mentioned he will be on the BTCC grid in 2012.

Doesn't really surprise me. Taking part with the S2000 car which essentially was a leftover from their WTCC campaign made a great deal of sense, but now that the two series are no longer compatible as far as tech regulations go they'd need to develop NGTC machinery to keep taking part.

Sell them to Sweden.

We are specialized in high-performance camshafts. For race cars, to be made on demand. And we just made a couple of sets for them for these engines, so I hope they'll still use them.

Hi All! This is roughly where we are for 2012. Full NGTC's have been marked, all S2000's will be running an NGTC engine

Team Honda Dynamics - Honda Civic NGTC - Matt Neal, Gordon Shedden
MG Triple 888 - MG6 NGTC - Jason Plato, Andy Neate
Ebay Motors WSR - BMW 320si - Rob Collard, Tom Onslow-Cole, Nick Foster
Motorbase - Ford Focus (older shape) - Mat Jackson, Aron Smith, Liam Griffin
Pirtek Eurotech - Honda Civic NGTC - Andy Jordan, Jeff Smith
Special Tuning Racing - Seat Leon - 2 cars available if anyone has the $$$
ES Racing - Vauxhall Vectra - Dave Newsham, Chris James
Central Racing Group - Vauxhall Vectra - Lea Wood
Amd - Volkswagen Gold - Ollie Jackson
RAR - Audi A4 NGTC - Rob Austin? Chris Swanwick?
Thorney - Vauxhall Insignia NGTC - John Thorne, Rob Hedley (from Oulton)
Welch - Proton NGTC - Dan Welch (likely), 2nd car?
Speedworks - Toyota Avensis NGTC - Tony Hughes, Adam Morgan
Dynojet - Toyota Avensis NGTC - Frank Wrathall (likely)
??? - Honda Civic - Tony Gilham (Team TBC, using last years championship car)
Geoff Steel Racing?? - BMW 320si?? - ???
Techspeed?? - Chevrolet Cruze?? - Paul O'Neill? John George??
TH Motorsort?? - Skoda Octavia?? - Matt Hamilton (budget issues)

Apologies if I've missed anything at this stage. Shaping up to be a reasonable grid. What it really lacks though is a Gio, Thompson or Turkington. If one of those three came back full time then we would be in for treat. That said, the fact that the usual suspects will be in brand new NGTC's means that the championship battle could be wide open...

Thank you

One thing I'd read was that Rob Austin was attempting to get Colin Turkington into his Audi for 2012. Oh I so wish that could happen.
