BTCC Snetterton 7th-8th of August, 2010 - Possible meetup?

#1

Post by Rainyday »

As you know, next BTCC even is in Snetterton in 5 weeks. The thing is, I pretty much have to visit Britain this summer or my next chance will be who knows when. So, I was planning to visit a motor race, and I like BTCC as it's usually action packed and provides lot of undercards and good racing - and it's affordable. £29 for a weekend admission is not bad at all. The thing is, I need some basic info.

- Where the hell is Snetterton and how can I get there from an airport?
- Does it provide good racing

and last but not least

- When is Paul taking out his FF2000 in Brands Hatch (bit unrelated I know, but I'd want to know it as well).

Also it would be nice to have a small meet up in case I end up flying over there, I would need a guide/someone who knows a bit more to come with me, as I have no clue how to navigate there, where are the "good spots" and what's happening in general.

Thanks in advance.

I'd be interested in a meet up but Snetterton is the opposite side of the country for me so not really convenient.

Yeah, looked it up and it seems a bit far from London (which is my preferred airport). Rockingham would have British F3 on 17th-18th of July, but it's quite far away too. Are there any other interesting events in July (aside from the GP next weekend)?

It's too close to my holiday in Sweden. I'll be leaving in the middle of the night on August 11th, so I'll be working my arse off the whole weekend trying to get everything finished before I go.

Sweet. Did you know that you can take a boat to Helsinki and back to Stockholm for quite cheap?

How much? Can it be done cheaply?

Well, it's not exactly cheap, no. How long will you be staying? I think it can be done for about £50-£70, it slightly depends on dates though. You can stay overnight in my place if you want though, that's not a problem.

If you want to see Helsinki, second good option would be to fly, but I recommend a cruise. I can check some dates and prices for you if you tell me when you would like to go so I know what dates to choose.

Yeah, Snetterton is scrapped from my ideas.

I am currently in market for a race, in summer (preferably during mid-end July) and easily accessible from London.

Are there any races in Brands Hatch for example?

Have you already looked at the BSB calendar. If you are coming from London, then obviously Brands is the closest. Not far away from that is Thruxton and Lydden Hill. I don't know about the smaller circuits. Oulton and Snetterton are the furthest away. Silverstone and Donington both are relatively closeby, compared to the previous two. Maybe BTCC at Donington, is that still happening?

There's no easy way to the race tracks though unless you have a car. Although Brands is only 40 mins from where I live, there are no train stations very nearby and no bus services that go past.
