Bottom post of the previous page:

Lap 227
Carl Edwards passes Jimmie Johnson for third. Tony Stewart follows and drops Johnson to fifth.

Lap 240
With Marcos Ambrose 45 laps down with just 27 laps to go, the worst Jimmie Johnson can finish is 41st. That means Carl Edwards must win the race to have a chance to win the championship.

CE=3rd JJ=5th.

Lap 244
LEAD CHANGE: Tony Stewart moves to the outside of Matt Kenseth for the lead.

Lap 245
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is on pit road and is complaining that he "can't drive it." The team thinks the car has a flat tire and changes all four.

Lap 246
David Reutimann is in for his final pit stop. He gets right-side tires and fuel.

Lap 257
Matt Kenseth leads but may try to make it on fuel. Carl Edwards is on his tail in second.

10 laps to go and JJ clinces his 3rd title.

Lap 259
Carl Edwards may be in trouble for fuel after running hard for five laps. He and leader Matt Kenseth begin to slow to try to make it on fuel.

Lap 260
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is out of the race.

Lap 261
Six laps to go and Jimmie Johnson is in 20th position. Carl Edwards is second.

Lap 264
LEAD CHANGE: Matt Kenseth is out of fuel and pulls over. Carl Edwards is the new leader.

Lap 266
WHITE FLAG: Carl Edwards leads by 13 seconds and is slowing on the track to conserve. Kevin Harvick is in second. Jimmie Johnson remains 20th.

Lap 267
CHECKERED FLAG -- Carl Edwards wins the Ford 400 as he runs out of gas crossing the line. Jimmie Johnson finishes 15th and clinches the 2008 Sprint Cup championship for the third consecutive year.

That doesn't matter, if it was still under the old system the teams would change their strategies accordingly.

Oh man, how fucked must he feel. Anyway, this is just what NASCAR deserves. Turn the clock back to 2003 and we would have had the perfect weekend with three close title fights. I did not watch the race yesterday and I'm pretty sure I was not the only one. People are tired off the Chase. I guess NASCAR will make some adjustments next year but it won't help. No, I don't want 15 people in the Chase, bonus points for wins or wrecking someone, give me the old system. Anyway, congrats to Jimmie and respect for Carl, impressive run from him the last couple of races in both series.

I'm starting to get bored of it as well, I went and did an iRacing Truck race at Phoenix in a vain attempt to keep myself awake, and once I'd crashed out of that I went back to the Sprint Cup and promptly fell asleep properly.
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.
If this is the case, you may click here to solve the problem, or alternatively here too.

I decided to repost this so it didn't get lost in the race coverage. This is the 2010 Ford Fusion body style that will run starting next year:

And here's two more 2009 schemes:

Jamie McMurray (ran at Homestead, but will run next year)

I wish the #43 would have lost its sponsor earlier, Petty Blue is much prettier.

I read the #43 will have so many sponsors next year, fans will have a tough time keeping track of them all, lol.
