Bottom post of the previous page:

I don't know why they've decided to do it but the last time they did was 1970.
Petty won thirty of his 200 GN/Cup races on dirt.

Edit: Doing a little snuffling about, I see that there were 3 dirt races in '70.
Those were the days my friends, we thought they'd never end.....

The truck race was a caution fest, but I think the actual racing was good. It seems to be working! KyBu overheated early in the Cup race, but show's been so good in the first stint so far.

I'm sold. This kind of racing is definitely a part of NASCAR's DNA. Two dirt races a year, not necessarily at Bristol, should be the way to go.

Short tracks rule.

Dirt tracking rules, fullstop.

But yeah, these cars aren't designed for it. It's a shambles as-is. They need some tweaks with things like grilles.

(Busch literally has a V8 dirt modified at the moment, lol)

well, there are some kinks here and there, but not huge ones. The dust is a problem, but there are other tracks with different kind of dirt. Run it at a permanent dirt track and do something about the tyre wear. The racing itself is really good.

Don't particularly care for it ('never did) for a top class like Cup or The Championship Trail (USAC, Indy car's season was called back in the day).
'Don't git me wrong, enjoy short tracks (dirt or paved), but more like Saturday night races for sprint cars, midgets, or modifieds type stuff.

'Saw Petty win at Islip Speedway (LI, NY) in '67, my first live exposure to the NASCAR big guys. (NASCAR GN ran there '64-'68).
The pace car was right up the back of the 29 car, 2 row's arse on the pace and caution laps  . It was all of .2 mile (paved). 300 laps made for a whopping 60 miles . Still took almost an hour and a half for an average speed of around 45 mph :whistling: .
Only good thing was there were not too many caution laps, even on that dink of a track, like these days. 'No candy wrapper yellows and got the wrecks right off the track and green.......

Hell, the Figure Eight crash fest was more entertaining..... 'Didn't go back to NASCAR there in '68....... :)

Yeah, the racing is good.

Grilles are required.

They also screwed the pooch by running it into the late afternoon. Dust + driving into the sun = hell.

I enjoyed that. There was a couple of issues and silly incidents but it was overall still fun to watch. Wonder if they should maybe run it at night like they did at Eldora though.

Brisbane International Speedway.

If your list has other Australian speedway tracks like Parramatta, Avalon, Murray Bridge or Kwinana, then Archerfield will be there too. It's hosted the nationals many times.
