Martin Truex Jr. took the win in Phoenix. Five races, five different winners - and some big names missing still.

Up next is the first 500 mile race of the year on a non-restrictor plate track: Atlanta (possibly the track with the highest speeds on the calendar?)

@erwin greven - I haven't forgotten about your request of posting the highlights videos in a separate thread.
Will try to do so later on today or in the coming days.

How can any of it be "bad behavior"?
I thought, both in car and out, that " rubbin' " (and " bangin' " each other) is racin' in NASCAR....???? :whistling:

For as long it attracts viewers, its good behaviour. Mind you, why became NASCAR that popular after the DAYTONA 500 in 1979? Not because of the race.

No, it wasn't soley the race per se (tho' it was a good race).
If it wasn't scheduled for that particular day, who knows........????

There was nothing much else on TV that snow stormy Sunday afternoon in much of the northern U.S. Everyone stayed home and watched TV. Millions were introduced to NASCAR Grand National racing that wouldn't have had the weather been otherwise.

It was the first live broadcast of the 500 on a over-the-air network (I forget which one).

Auto racing TV coverage was blooming (mostly thanks to ESPN and other cable stations).

All the above contributed to the increased following. The behavior had been going on long before that. ;)
