The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

I’m absolutely stunned, doesn’t appear that he has any cuts or bruises on his face either..

Makes you wonder what spooked the rescuers so much at the scene.
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.

Nope, was Rookie of the year though back in 2002. Closest he came was runner up in 2014, first year of the current championship “playoff” nonsense I still hate. He only had 5 top 5s and 16 top 10s that year, yet in 2003 he had 8 wins 17 top 5s 22 top 10s along with 11 poles yet finished 6th.

Agreed. I find the best point system was the old F1 system that gave very appropriate percentages for the top six finishers, 9-6-4-3-2-1.
All of racing has evolved into showmanship for the uninitiated and attention deficites rather than a display of the deserved (designers, fabricators, crew, drivers...even administrators) of championships. I shan't take the time to research but I have a good idea Ryan could have been champ in 2003 using that system.

Just did a quickie anyway........just Newman (6th) vs. champ Kenseth..........no guarantee of the accuracy, but I didn't miss by as much as the totals indicate.
By the 9-6-4-3-2-1 system, Matt (5,022 pts. via NASCAR system) would have had 64 points for the season vs. Ryan's (4,711) 89!!!!!!
I didn't do the guys in between, but.......I think I've made my point.

I hate all the latest type of points systems which even seem to reward those who can manage to spell their own name.
But I am not much of a follower of NASCAR.... no coverage here in Aus and always silly o'clock start times. Plus too many (seemingly contrived) yellows. I had to draw the line somewhere in what I follow.

Ryan Newman has released statement, saying his only injuries are head related, no broken bones or internal injuries.

In his first interview since the accident, he has revealed he has brain bruising, and was unconscious for a period after the accident, doesn’t remember most of the race, no timeline for return.
He also said LaJoie’s car hit his seat.
