No one wants to see that kind of thing happen, but it’s the last lap of the 500. Almirola was defending a run, Dillon was trying for a closing gap.

Whether we like what happened or not, the last word on the matter goes to Almirola who actually gave Dillion the benefit of the doubt
”He's not driving too aggressively, he's trying to win the Daytona 500 just like I was," Almirola said.

"I saw him come with the momentum and I pulled up to block and did exactly what I needed to do to try to win the Daytona 500.

"I wasn't going to just let him have it. I wasn't going to just stay on the bottom and let him rail the outside, so I blocked and he got to my bumper and pushed and I thought I was still going to be OK and somehow I got hooked.”

Thing is, I don't think Aric would have lost the race without that block. The way the runs were working, Austin would've drawn alongside him or even gotten past but Aric could've still done something during the rest of the lap. But with that block, he essentially committed suicide (not literally, thankfully) as there was no WAY Austin was going to lift on the last lap with a head of steam like that, like @kals said.

About what I expected, sadly for NASCAR as soon as Dillon passed the finish line I switched over and watched something on Netflix, nothing against him I just couldn't be bothered to watch any more of it.
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.

Altered Carbon @kals I'd already binged the first 8 earlier in the week so wanted to see how it ended, thinking of Cloverfield Paradox next, but not sure as I haven't seen any of the previous films, gonna get my money's worth with this free trial lol.

Seeing Cloverfield and / or 10 Cloverfield Lane aren't prerequisites for watching Cloverfield Paradox. Each are standalone movies set in the same universe.

Al whatever his name is who was the one turned round said he had no probs with it so whats the problem? Thats NASCAR, especially on the last lap of a big race. Rules. What rules? But im only going on what I read here. I didnt watch it and havent seen the incident.

Wrecking for the win is actively encouraged in NASCAR, there simply is no other form of "motorsport" like it, save for maybe TCR.

Why bother creating a new thread when there are only three of us who comment? Might as well just rename this one and keep the discussion centralised.
