Bottom post of the previous page:

Sato confirmed at Dale Coyne Racing with RWR for 2022 IndyCar season

Two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Takuma Sato will spend his 13th IndyCar season with Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing.
Sato confirmed at Dale Coyne Racing with RWR for 2022 IndyCar season
The 44-year-old Japanese driver, who spent the last four seasons at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and racked up three wins including the team’s – and his – second Indy triumph, will drive the #51 entry vacated by Andretti Autosport-bound Romain Grosjean.

As first rumouredt in September, Coyne and Sato have been negotiating for several months, growing more earnest as the driver’s talks with Rahal Letterman Lanigan ended in impasse.

I dont know why but I have always liked Sato so am glad he has got the deal rather than heading into retirement.

That is not good news for me. I pay for Foxtel and get Indy and WRC as part of that. Now it has gone from Fox to another subscription based outfit. I have always said I would pay for one cable TV / streaming deal but not more.
I break that rule only for a $10 one-off deal for full coverage of Le Mans week. So No Indycar for me in future by the look of it. A shame as I quite enjoyed the road tracks.

Well fuck indeed. Shit fuck.

It used to be so good :(.

Premier League, A-League, F1, Indycar (on ESPN at the time, mind you), Le Mans and all the good stuff on Eurosport (cycling, winter sports).

All that Foxtel has left now is F1 and a bit of cycling (which I don't care about *that* much).

Fkn hate all this streaming shit. Premier League is Optus, A-League is Paramount, F1 is Foxtel/Kayo, Indycar is Stan...

ARGH!

They have at least got the WEC as well, so if you buy it for a month at the right time of the year you can get the Indy 500 + 2 Indycar road course races and Le Mans for $20.

Annoyingly it would actually be $10 a month but you have to one of the non-sport Stan packages alongside it which brings the price up. I probably won't bother getting it outside of that because there's nothing on there I really want to watch outside of the racing and I don't have enough time to watch WEC and the WRC properly

Yeah, I'm not going to bother.

Back to 20-30min YouTube highlights, or bootleg copies of the full races :(.

Done. I can cope with getting the couple of Indy car races, the 500 and LM24 for $20. As I said I would pay for the LM24 anyway so its only an extra $10. Thanks for the heads up.

Dallara extends deal to supply IndyCar chassis

IndyCar has extended its contract to use Dallara chassis in a new “multi-year” deal.

Dallara has been the exclusive supplier of chassis to the single-make championship since 2008. It also provides the monocoques for the series’ junior category, Indy Lights

This year was their 25th season as an IndyCar chassis supplier. The DW12 design has been in use since 2012, since when a new aero kit was introduced in 2018. The Aeroscreen was added two years later.

Indycar is planning to replace the DW12 chassis, but will not do so until after its new hybrid engines arrive in 2023......
No brainer really..... if it aint broke, dont fix it.

As shown Ed Carpenter Racing has not yet filled the vacancy in the #20.

I think Carlin is still a bit of an unknown. If they remain I guess Chilton.....
Also believe there was a rumour of a tie-up with Juncos Hollinger Racing, At the annual post-season Road to Indy Chris Griffis Memorial Test, Carlin crew were seen working alongside Juncos Hollinger Racing team members, leading to suggestions of a tie-up.

However, silence it seems has led to some suggestions Carlin will leave IndyCar and Indy Lights entirely.

Another unknown is Tony Kanaan, possible / maybe /expected to run the Indianapolis 500 in 2022. (Chip Ganassi? :dunno: )

Green Light on the season is St Petersburg on February 25-27

Also question marks over what will happen with Vasser/Sullivan after they split with Coyne. Earlier in the year they were saying that 2023 would be the time they're hoping to go it alone with their own team. So they might be a good tie in with Carlin (or take over).

So 0-2 extra full time cars left.

Tony is running the 500 per contract, Ganassi HAS to shit out a fifth car for him to run Indy.

What a full and great life he had.... fingers in so many pies from racing teams, series and also suppliers like Cosworth who he led from a lossmaker into a successful business way beyond its original skills.
Extraordinary business successes (ie Uniphase who he took from a 'nothing' $25 mill business to a $100 billion company) . Voted in the top 50 American CEO's last millennium.
Also voted one of the top 5 most powerful and influential people in Motorsport.
Oh and he was also a qualified commercial pilot.

Not bad for an Aussie from Adelaide.
(Although I believe the. Kalkhoven name has Dutch origins)

He will be missed by many

RIP Kevin Kalkoven.
