Oh you thought we were done with Indycar for a while, huh?

Nerp.

Time to tear up some cars on an oval. Then we can have a weekend off.

With four rounds to go, it's time for some circlework at Gateway on Saturday 21 August. After that we'll have three weekends on a trot - again - to see out the season (yes, season over in September!).

Highlight: Grosjean makes his oval debut.

Palou's smokey engine at IMS has landed him another six place grid penalty: https://racer.com/2021/08/19/palou-face ... d-penalty/

Indy Lights being a very bad joke this time, tyre failures all around on an oval. Unacceptable.

Back in the day they’d have just said it’s your own fault for running the pressures too low. If it was a construction problem everybody would be suffering failures from the get go, but it was only the top (fastest) drivers that had issues and generally later on in the runs, the lower the pressure you run, the faster you go but the quicker the tyres wear out and the higher risk it is, it’s a trade off of risk v reward. But no they ended the race early cos it was dangerous. Well had the front runners run higher pressures, maybe the failures wouldn’t have happened?

I don’t think I’d last five minutes in this new modern era of motorsports, been going through some old incar tapes from races back in the say and found one from Brands, bone dry when we lined up on the grid, it rained, so they delayed it until it stopped raining and dried out a bit, then sent us off on another warm up lap and it started bucketing it down for a minute or so, half the track was soaked, half barely wet, they declared it a wet race (so we had free tyre choice but nobody changed off slicks), then started the race, half the field went off at paddock, and only about five finished cos they were too impatient to drive round at 80% until it dried out properly, but nobody complained about how dangerous it was, it is what it is.

If this happened now they’d probably red flag the race and wait for it to dry or force everybody to go onto wets (which on the guy that did, lasted about 3 laps until he tore them to shreds and went off himself lol).
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.
If this is the case, you may click here to solve the problem, or alternatively here too.

Of course how dare we assume drivers should drive to the present conditions or in a way to keep their tyres alive, what a preposterous notion.

Pags and JoNew get together with Pags getting the worse of it.

Then Special Ed takes out Kellett before the restart.

Then there's silliness on the restart itself.

Then Special Ed wrecks by himself.

And now Dixon and Palou crash!

Must be a full moon.

Drivers are really forcing it on restarts since they know this will be a single-file snooze after 4-5 laps.
