Surely this deserves a new thread at this stage.

It's here!

New aero. Ground effects are back.

Me? I'm excited. Fingers crossed.

The Honda livery makes it look weird. I'll wait to judge.

What I want is a safer car, no more losses like Justin Wilson or Dan Wheldon.

Do you think the updated car is less safe?

Proportions are off, always have been on the DW12. I realize the nose needs to be long to provide the required energy absorption, but a longer wheelbase would help. Or maybe its just the tiny rear wing. The increased underfloor aero balance should be good. Looking forward to see how it races.

Apparently they've beefed up the side safety, so incidents like Hinch's and Bourdais at Indy wouldn't happen.

Wilson would've happened even with a halo - would need to be a closed cockpit from above. And I doubt even a closed cockpit would have saved Wheldon.

Yeah, the DW12 is a dud from an aesthetics point of view. Apart from the rear flicks ups though, I'm not sure what they could have actually done better though given what they were working with.

Looks a whole lot better. Still quite not this:

But definitely a trimmer, sexier car. The worst part IMO is the rear flick-ups.

.....until the first corner at St Pete and someone ends up in the turn 1 grandstand because they forgot there's no rear bumpers to save them now from bump and runs.
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.
