Bottom post of the previous page:

He was going about the same speed as Will Power through the exit curve. Will's tires gripped, but Negarden's did not. It looked like a rookie move from above.

The Sonoma race is now a "must watch" to find out which of the six will take it this year. I have a feeling it will be Dixon again (although someone new winning the championship would be more interesting).

Bit of a funky race. Most of it punctuated by full course cautions though. The Sato one was utterly stupid.

Ok, who is everyone picking to win the Championship this weekend? I'd like to see Newgarden, but got a feeling Dixon will run a cool calculating race to win it all. My youngest is a die hard Pagenaud fan and swears he is gonna repeat.

Hoping for Newgarden.... in fact just not Dixon. But as you say....

Same (Billy) boat. Want Newgarden, but expect Dixon.

A Penske for a change.

If the question is "which team will choke at the final round of the Indycar series?" I think you may be right. Sadly. :sorrow:

Haha they always seem to find some inventive way to throw it away don't they?

The only times Penske hasn't lost in the past 10 years is when they've only had themselves to fight with, Power and Castro Neves in 2014 and then Pagenaud and Power last year. Since 2006 when Sam Hornish won in tiebreak against Dan Wheldon, it hasn't made nice reading for Roger:

2008 - Helio loses to Dixon
2009 - Briscoe loses to Franchitti (and Dixon)
2010 - Power loses to Franchitti
2011 - Power loses to Franchitti
2012 - Power loses to Hunter-Rey
2013 - Helio loses to Dixon
2014 - Power wins
2015 - Montoya loses to Dixon
2016 - Pagenaud wins

Just read that Pigot is getting the 21 ride with ECR in 2018. So does JR land somewhere or is he out?

Yeah I just read about that too. Hildebrand's options are:

1) Part time / Indy 500 drive
2) Scrape cash together to take a Coyne seat
3) Hinch feels he could be a valuable asset to help make Schmidt Peterson a more competitive team

I thought JR was already confirmed to be staying at ECR?

Weren't they speculating that both JR and Pigot would be full time and Ed would retire to concentrate on the management side of things at Gateway? Ed basically said this himself iirc. (or he would run a 3rd car for himself at the ovals instead of booting Pigot out).

JR is not really worthy of a full-time ride.

I've never really been impressed with JR. He's seldom achieved anything much during his years in Indycar and he's often only remembered fondly for Indy 2011. But considering the fuel mileage stuff going on that day, almost anyone could have won, and nearly did. Although Panther's treatment of him in 2013 was pretty shoddy, considering Panther weren't exactly a top notch team any longer.
