Feel for Karam. Quick on his day and last year ended horribly for him.

Yeah was going to say the same, he will become the McNish of Indycars and nobody will want to be associated with him even though what happened wasn't his fault and was just dumb luck.

Agree with you both.

I see Conor Daly has secured a drive. I'm not a fan and feel he's wholly overrated and underachieved so far. The thing I remember him vividly for is his overtaking move at Monaco in GP3, when he struggled to get past a guy with no rear wing and thought the optimum line was over his competitors head.

As CART and IRL merged to create IndyCar, then this is not technically the first time they have run Road America. This is a continuation of the AAA -> USAC -> CART -> IndyCar series of 'Champ Cars' championships.

Semantics aside, I am really looking forward to this. Formula 1 can sit in the back seat next year.

Oh I know, I'm just quoting technicalities and being pedantic.

Assume you're referring to Donington, and wasn't aware it had adversely affected his career. Can't say I had ever thought of it really.

racer.com wrote:INDYCAR: Series wants to 'minimize debate'

New IndyCar competition and operations boss Jay Frye wants to "minimize the debate" around races in 2016 by reducing the number of contentious decisions his department makes.

Frye was elevated to the position formerly held by Derrick Walker last month, and he wants to keep race control out of the headlines next year. An "insane" race at Fontana (ABOVE) sparked vocal criticism from drivers in June, prompting IndyCar to tighten rules about driver conduct that league officials insisted was not a "gag order".

While Fontana is not on the 2016 schedule, Frye wants to avoid a repeat in the future.

frye"Officiating for any league is a challenge, always has been and always will be," said Frye (LEFT). "Every night on television you see some sort of debate on officiating.

"Even with instant replay and challenges that the coaches have, there's still debate on whether the result was conclusive or not. One of the things we want to try to do as a league is minimize the debate.

"We're going to hire the best and most respected people to be part of our steward system. We're going to provide the best possible tools and regular and consistent training to the officials and stewards. We'll create a consistent platform where the infractions have a clear and concise consequence that the competitors understand and are aware of."

Having spent more than a decade as a NASCAR team manager, Frye added he wanted to lead "a sanctioning body that great racers and race teams want to participate in and are proud to be a part of."

"We are making great progress in that but there's still more work to be done," he added. "That's one of our top line goals. Another goal that we'd like to work on is to harness the power of the paddock.

"We have a phenomenal amount of talent, knowledge, experience in the IndyCar paddock. We need to tap into this on a more regular and consistent basis."

Indycar is keeping the double points races, Indy and Sonoma - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/122329

I get the double points for a prestigious race like Indy, I'd even go so far as saying that all 500 milers should be double points scoring races. But putting the season finale as a double points race just because it is the season finale is dumb. After the farce of this year's season finale, I just hope that those affected by it like Montoya and Rahal see some karma come their way... but karma doesn't seem to pay Chip Ganassi a visit too often sadly.

Indy Lights looks to be stronger than it has been for many years: http://motorsports.nbcsports.com/2015/1 ... on-update/

Felix Rosenqvist tested for a team the other week, dunno how it went other than short comment "Thanks for a great day yesterday".

Exactly, the season should have either been spread out more, or had at least two more races! I'd personally like the series to be a bit more international and start competing with Eff One.

Although double points at Sonoma again is dumb after last year :annoyed:

I agree with a longer season, or at least a bit more spread out. But I think that won't happen anytime soon as the sports market in the US is quite packed already.

What I hope to see more of next season is the 'boardroom mess' shrinking. There have been more changes and upheaval in Indycar than I would like to see in a major series and the penalty controversies play a big role in that upheaval. Seeing that the double points-system remains it doesn't look very likely.
