Indycars ugly? Well, they shocked me somewhat when first debuted but I've got familiar with them. Not ugly... Just different. And potentially safer with respect to wheels within wheels scenarios.
It could also just be me missing the cars of the late 1990's so badly.
I miss the sponsors as well. We need Kool Green and Forsythe.
I think as a series, Indycar and then CCWS from about 1993 until the death of the Lola was the single best looking racing series ever. Those cars were stunning. And the howl around a street course was something to experience.
This year's car kits are awful. The extra rear wing bits that go over the width of the car are hideous. The speedway configuration previously - despite the sidepods and bumpers - at least made them look slightly menacing.
They're just about as bad as the old crapwagons now.

There have still been a few launches, despite them.
At least they don't get air just by going backwards like the old Crapwagons constantly did, but then again the old CART Reynard/Lola/Swift/Penske/Eagle generation of cars didn't either.

If a man can't look at danger and still go on, man has stopped living. If the worst ever happens – then it means simply that I've been asked to pay the bill for the happiness of my life – without a moment's regret. Graham Hill
Ganassi, who recently said they weren't concerned about the impact of losing Target as a sponsor from the end of 2016 coincidentally want to sign Max Chilton to a multi-year contract. No link obviously. They cite talent as the reason. You know, because 19th placed Max's talent is so evident.
and about Chilton.. if that's what necessary to keep Kanaan and, to some extent, Kimball, sure. He's slow enough to not be a particular danger anywhere (other than Phoenix this year), and fast enough to not be disgrace a la Milka Duno, Marty Roth and a few others that were around for way too long in the 90's and 00's.
Ganassi may be able to fool some other potential sponsors, fine, but he won't fool us. If he CAN fool sponsors to jump onboard with the talent speech, fine. Contrary to F1, where Chilton was hogging a seat, here in Indycar he is merely adding one or two cars to the grid. And that's a very good thing.

The universe, look at the hugeness of it... it is a dizzying thought that little ol' me is the centre of it all!***
Apparently, the sponsors on Kanaan's car love Kanaan, which is enough to keep the sponsors on and Kanaan in that car. That's good news.
And yes, I get what you mean about Chilton in Indycar. Although I just wish it was keeping a team like Coyne afloat, rather than wasting one of the best seats on the grid.
I'm happy for Pagenaud and disappointed for Power. But the race was dire. Why Indycar continues to start and finish the season with such underwhelming circuits is beyond me. One day they'll stop shooting themselves in the foot.
